Preston Brooksby

Preston Brooksby passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, on July 9, 2023 at the age of 90 after a decades-long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Preston was born February 1, 1933 in Kanab, UT to John and Melinda (Judd) Brooksby of Fredonia, AZ. He followed in his father's footsteps, learning to love ranching, horses and wandering the red hills of the Arizona Strip. Preston loved education, spending many years as a seminary teacher and CES coordinator. He also loved learning and earned several college degrees.
Preston married Barbra Jean Nelson on March 29, 1960 in the Mesa, AZ temple. After 54 years together, three children and many adventures, Barbra passed away in 2014.
Preston was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the Lord and spent his life in His service. He held many callings and served faithfully throughout his life. Preston also loved to sing, and to connect with people everywhere he went. One of his favorite places to be was sitting around a campfire at his ranch playing his ukulele and singing with family and friends.
Preston was preceded in death by his wife Barbra, and siblings Nora, Russell, Carl, and Laurette. He is survived by his siblings Emma and Glenda, his children Ladd (Karen), Ann, and Elaine (Brian), seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Preston's funeral will be held Friday, July 14th at 10:00 a.m. with a viewing preceding from 8:30-9:45 a.m., at the LDS chapel at 7255 South 2200 West, West Jordan, UT. View virtually at https://zoom.us/j/98180610397?pwd=dzJIczZZSDBvQjN3MDVPOWE5cWZDdz09 Passcode: 462587.

A graveside service will be held at the Fredonia, AZ cemetery on Saturday, July 15 at 8:00 a.m. Arizona time/9:00 a.m. Utah time. Refreshments and storytelling afterwards at the LDS church at 80 S Main Street, Fredonia, AZ. Fredonia services were arranged with Mosdell Mortuary.
