Preston Rene Collins ("Singing Bricklayer")

Preston Rene Collins ("Singing Bricklayer"), passed away on July 13, 2013, peacefully at his home of 35 years in Metairie, LA. One of 20 siblings, he was born October 12, 1938, to the late Dennis and Alice Collins on Mon Louis Island in Mobile County, Alabama. He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy Henry Collins. Preston was a loving dad to Valdrie, Sr., Tonya Nicole and Michelle; a proud granddad to Kristi, Valdrie, Jr. and Madison; and a loving and attentive great granddad to Jaedyn ("JJ"). Preston is also survived by his siblings Miriam Bryan, Ella Alexander, Mary Johnson, Clenard, Claude (Caroline) Herman, Horace and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Carter Rene, who passed away after four weeks of life, while Preston was very ill. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 22, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road. A Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. Interment in All Saints Mausoleum. At the family's request, they ask that no flowers be sent.
