Several times a week I would take my young twin boys to Bob Evans for breakfast. Somehow, we were always seated near Pres and Marge. They always made a fuss over my boys, and would comment on how well behaved they were. Pres will be missed!

Dear Marg,
Ginny and I heard Sunday that Pres had gone to heaven. You have our sincerest sympathy. I dread the day that I could be left on earth without Ginny but I would hate to leave her, too. You carry the larger weight of grief and we will pray that God will sustain you in His grace and peace.
We will always remember with fondness our times shared together. Times at your home (both indoors and out) eating flank steak (he could grill a wicked flank steak), at the Country Club but most of all our times shared around the Brass Band. To this day I tell people about the BC Brass Band and 90% have never ever heard of it. I remember especially a summer fund raiser somewhere around Marshall where a number of the members were present and talking with them candidly about life in general. People become real in moments like those.
Thank you for all the memories Marg.
One thing about Pres is that he would tell you what he thought. I always appreciated that about him until the end - then it got tough. I am sorry about how things ended and always will.
May God richly bless you as you enter this next season of life.
With love, Rich and Ginny Verkaik

Dear Mrs. Kool, Doug and Kathy, Dave and Deb, Tim and Lyn, Tom, Ron and Tammy, Robyn and Brad, and extended Kool family: Our sincere condolences in the loss of your husband, father, and friend. Although it has been many years since I last crossed paths with Mr. Kool, I have many fond memories of being with him and the Kool family in Byron Center and Battle Creek and elsewhere during my Calvin years of the 80s. He was a kind, amiable, generous, fun-loving, and godly man. He will be genuinely missed by family and friends and church and community. May God grant you His perfect peace and comfort in this time of loss and during the celebration of Mr. Kool's life in the days ahead. In Christ.

I always enjoyed my time with Pres. He always had a great line to start out a conversation. Two of my favorites where when I asked him how he was doing. "Great Regan! But I don't buy green bananas anymore." And when asked about a horse he owned with Russ Mawby. "Oh he was a great horse. Probably the most polite horse in racing. He was always saying 'after you, after you.'" What a great man and great family. I'm so sorry for your loss and feel so lucky to have been able to get spend some time with him and Marge. God bless you all.

I met Preston in 1986. When I first walked up to him on the golf course I told him he had just about the best name I'd ever heard. Preston not only had a cool name he had a warm heart and generous nature that always put a smile on my face. He was so supportive of children and when Chi Chi Rodriguez needed help for his at risk kids in Clearwater Florida Preston was one of the first to step up and support this very tiny new 501c 3 Foundation. Today the organization serves over 2,200 young people through The First Tee and has 95 at risk students in the Chi Chi Academy in five grade levels of 4th through 8th grade. I can tell you that without Preston and Marge this Foundation may not have made it. I wish he could see some of the graduates that come back now with their own families. They have an education and families of their own and are tax paying citizens in our community. Quite a testament to early believers such as Preston and Marge.

I feel so very blessed to have briefly visited with Marge and Pres, as they lunched at the Northpointe Woods Café on Wed, Jan 3. Pres said he remembered Roger and both he and Marge asked that I remember them to Rog. It is with fond memories we will recall knowing Pres through the years. Such a generous, giving person. His faith leaves us with the peace that he is in a wonderful place. Condolences and love to Marge and family!

My apologies for the delay in writing, I just learned of Mr. Kool's passing today. We were away at the time of his passing.
I met Mr.Kool through our family business, Imperial Tile, many, many years ago. From that point on I was always delighted to serve he and Mrs Kool and to run into them in daily life.
He reflected the qualities of a good father and family man, as well as a community "activist" and businessman, in his demeanor. His warmth and concern for others was reflected in his children, time would prove.
So sorry for your loss, and the loss to the community.

We wish we could be there, but as you know we are in Florida taking care of Dad. We have very fond memories of Pres, he has a wonderful sense of humor and was a very generous man serving the community in many ways and with our church. Enjoyed listening to him play his trombone and singing in the choir. Craig enjoyed listening to his golfing stories and all the places he played golf at and the people he met. Marge and the whole family are so kind and loving people and always willing to help others who are in need. Pres will be missed by all, but his legacy will live on forever!
See you in Heaven Pres! Much love and comfort and prayers to Marge and family.

Barb and I have many fond memories of Pres; we remember both belly laughs and serious conversations. He and Marge, were instrumental in our integration into the Battle Creek community. Among other things we appreciated Pres's directness, graciousness, and generosity. We will miss him. God's grace and peace to Marge and the whole family.

Pres was a wonderful man that Sharon and I will never forget his big smile, easy laugh, and generous spirit. These are only three things that marked this incredible man. His love for his Lord and faith in the saving power of Jesus Christ is what made him the person that he was. He was an inspiration to all of us. It's always hard to say goodbye but we know that Jesus has His arms wide open to welcome him to His eternal and glorious home.
