Priness Lawrence Perry of Twentynine Palms, California passed away on November 16, 2021 after a 6 year battle with Parkinson's disease. Priness was born on August 4,1942 to Reverend Promise and Emma Perry of Bessemer, Alabama. After the death of his mother he moved to San Diego where he graduated from trade school for mechanics. In the mid sixties he had moved to Los Angeles where he teamed up with Sonny Scott and started his love for drag racing bikes. He helped build one of the first twin engine drag bikes. His bike was named Stagefright; it was a Triumph 650 and would become the world's quickest fueler. Rider Priness Perry had a best time of 9.70 seconds and fastest with a speed of 155.25 mph. After touring Europe for NHRA he came back to Los Angeles and began his career with McDonell Douglas Aircraft Company. He was a Union Man, first working for UAW United Auto Workers as a packer/crater in the shipping department with McDonnell Douglas. He later joined the Teamsters Union and began driving long haul for McDonnell Douglas. He retired from McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Aircraft Company in 2002 after working 35 years.
In 1980 he met Janet Kilby and they were wed in 1983. Their only child Moriah Ruth Perry was born to them November 22, 1991. Before he retired, Priness moved to Twentynine Palms and started building his home in Wonder Valley. He joined the Wonder Valley Community Church where he later became a deacon and served on various church committees. Priness loved the desert and had bought an ATV to teach his daughter to ride. He enjoyed playing cards and had a weekly potluck with his friends and neighbors. You could always count on Priness to give a helping hand to those in need and bring a sense of community spirit.
Priness was predeceased by his parents Reverend Promise Perry and Mrs. Emma Perry; His stepmother Dorothy May Perry; siblings Ruth White, Hannah Williams, Juanita Moore, Mildred Campbell, and Joseph Perry; stepsister, Rosalind Anderson and stepbrother, Dallas Hutchinson.
Priness leaves, to cherish his loving memory, his wife Janet Kilby Perry; daughter Moriah Perry; siblings Sydney Perry, Chester Hutchinson, Naomi Carolyn Perry, Elaine Roundtree, Promese Perry, Toinette Hutchinson. And last but definitely not least a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
