GREENSBORO – Priscilla Nichols Christiansen, 95, passed away on July 6, 2021 in Greensboro, NC. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 12 at Faith Presbyterian Church at 6309 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410. The family will receive friends and family at the church at 1 p.m. followed by a service at 2:30 p.m. The burial will follow in New Garden Friends Cemetery, 801 New Garden Rd., Greensboro, NC 27410.

Priscilla was born on May 5, 1926 in Mt. Airy, NC and raised in the town of Pilot Mountain. She was a 1948 graduate of Guilford College, where she met her husband Roy when she cut in while he was dancing with her roommate. It turned out she was the girl in the "yellow dress" Roy had previously seen and noticed on campus. The rest was history and they celebrated 71 years of marriage on September 27, 2018.

After graduation, Roy and Priscilla taught school for a few years in Stokes County and early jobs took their growing family to Rome, GA, Winston-Salem, NC and ultimately back to the Guilford College community in 1956, where they lived the remainder of her life. She retired from Guilford County Schools as a home economics teacher at Ragsdale and Southwest Guilford High Schools.

She loved cooking, collecting antique furniture, and large family gatherings for many years at the custom home she and Roy built at the Cardinal. You had to know our beautiful mother to fall under the spell she cast with her magic mix of openness…enthusiasm…intelligence and irresistible interest in you! She and Roy were long-time members of Faith Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir. Their first home, church, college, retirement community, final days and burial are all within one mile.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Robert Christiansen, parents Grady Marshall Nichols and Myrtle Fulk Nichols and brother Bobby Nichols. Survivors include sister Barbara Birkner, daughters Linda O'Briant (Mike), Dale Christiansen, Gale Christiansen, son Bobby (Jill), grandchildren Christian O'Briant Dew (Mike), Thomas O'Briant, Priscilla Smith Brown (Bart), Adele Gibbs Martin (Chris), Robert Christiansen, Rachel Christiansen, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Friends Homes West and Guilford for their love, care and compassion during Priscilla's past five years.
