Priscilla Gates Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton on Apr. 4, 2025.
Known and loved by many as "Prissy," Priscilla passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 82. She was born on September 17, 1942, and grew up in New York. Priscilla dedicated her career to nursing, working until the age of 70. Even at 82, she maintained her nursing license, always keeping it current just in case she was ever needed. In 1987, Priscilla met and married the love of her life, Douglas Monroe Gates. Together, they spent 36 wonderful years filled with dancing, traveling, and hosting events with family and friends. Prissy was the life of the party and cherished the time she spent with those she loved.
Priscilla was known for her infectious smile, her love for animals, and her brutally honest nature. A perfect day for her included hours spent at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, shopping with her sister in matching tie-dye shirts, color-coordinating outfits, playing Bonko, dancing, or cruising with family. Priscilla's presence lit up any room she entered, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Monroe Gates; her parents, Emma Mary (Marion) and Charles Fredrick Connor; her siblings, Fredrick Joseph Connor and Marion Barbara Connor; and her son, Billy Dwaine Wyche.
Priscilla is survived by her children: Laurie Kennington, Michelle White, Jennifer Conrad, Susan (George) Doyle, Stephen Gates, Travis (Suzie) Gates, and Charles "Farrell" Parks. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kristen Kennington, Bailey (Jon) Farill, Morgan (Bryant) Williams, Holly (Justin) Abel, Megan (Pieter) Hoets, Wesley Conrad, Sierra (Aj) Hardesty, and Geordan and Madison Doyle. Her great-grandchildren include Caden, Kaelee, Ellie Mae, Rayson, Emi, Camden, and Bailey Kate. Priscilla is also survived by her sister, Susan (Jim) Walls.
The funeral will be held at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Public visitation is at 11:30am with the service at 12:30pm. Interment is at Whitmire Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. A celebration of Priscilla's life will be held at her home after the service and burial.
