Someone recently asked me who was the most influential teacher I had in my life, and without question - I told them about my second grade teacher from the late 1980s, Mrs. String.
Now it's safe to say that up until second grade, I was a rambunctious child who had a bit of potential, but ultimately I never really cared to pay attention in school. Queue being assigned to Mrs. String's class at Kraft Elementary. Let's just say that it wasn't long until I realized that she wasn't going to stand for any of my disruptive shenanigans in the classroom. Being blessed with a "strict" second grade teacher wasn't a thought at the time, but over the years I've come to realize that Mrs. String certainly had a lasting affect on my educational accomplishments in addition to setting me up for success as it concerns life itself.
Mrs. String was instrumental in developing a level of discipline in myself that I am eternally grateful for to this day, and this appreciation is what actually lead to me finding out that she had passed away within the past couple years. It saddens me to learn that Mrs. String has passed away, and I'm humbled that I get to be included in the countless other lives that she affected during her career in education.
Mrs. String, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to connect with you prior to your passing. However, I want you to know that you made a huge and positive impact on my life, and that I will surely think about you often as the years go by. Also, I feel bad for my daughter's second grade teachers - they have a LOT to live up to in comparison to you!

I worked with Priscilla at Kraft Elementary School. She was a excellent teacher and cared very much for her students. She was a fine person in all ways.

I had the pleasure of serving on the second grade team with Priscilla ar Kraft Elementary School for many years. She was a great teacher, mentor, and teammate with a lively sense of humor. May she Rest In Peace. My condolences to Leslie and Randall, she loved you both so much. -Gloria Newby
