Opelousas, A Mass of Christian Burial for Priscilla Thierry will be on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church in Mallet, La. Burial will follow in the St. Ann Cemetery in Mallet. Fr. Jude Thierry will celebrate the Mass along with Co Celebrant Fr. Jawa Stanley.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m.
Priscilla, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and devoted member of her church, passed away on January 13, 2026, at Opelousas General Hospital. She was born in Opelousas. Priscilla brought joy and wisdom to the lives of everyone she encountered during her remarkable 40-plus years of teaching.
Priscilla's unwavering dedication to education was not just a career but a calling. Her passion for instilling knowledge and inspiring young minds left a lasting impact on countless students, emphasizing the importance of kindness and understanding. Those who had the privilege of being in her classroom remember her as a very loving and caring person, traits that endeared her to students and colleagues alike.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Priscilla cherished her faith and family. She was deeply committed to her church community. She found immense joy in helping others, often volunteering her time and resources to support those in need. Her selfless spirit and warm heart were evident in all aspects of her life.
Priscilla is survived by her daughters, Donna Auzenne (Jerald) of Lafayette, Teri Brown (Shane) of Sunset, Tonya Rodgers (Vashaun) of Lafayette, and sisters, Gerda Thierry (Jude) of Lawtell, and Timmy Pierce of Lake Charles. She also leaves behind her three beloved grandchildren, Kirsten Auzenne, Payton Auzenne, and Ava Rodgers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Thierry, and her parents, Winston Thibodeaux and Mary Semien. Priscilla's memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her legacy as a nurturing educator and compassionate soul will continue to inspire future generations.
