Newcomer Funeral Home - AkronQueen E. Edwards, age 65 of Akron went home to glory on November 10, 2025. She was born in Greenwood, MS on May 13, 1960 to the late Bennie Gordon Sr. and Melvina {O'Dell} Gordon.
In addition to her parents, Queen was preceded in death by her sisters Shirley Ward and Dorothy Gordon; brothers Sammie O'Dell, Bennie Gordon Jr., Richard Gordon, Tommy Gordon and James Gordon; granddaughter Shaun'Teria Funches.
Queen was a devoted woman of faith who loved the Lord with all her heart. Her life was a reflection of God's grace and goodness, and she found joy in sharing that love with her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, especially watching them play the sports they loved. A true believer in Jesus Christ, Queen's gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and friends will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Shunmekea (Konrad) Herring, Tamika Goodson, Danielle Gaiter, Kesha Goodson, Edwin Goodson, Dewayne (Joy) Edwards, Miranda Goodson, Chris Goodson, Shawn Edwards, LeAnn (Derek) Moultrie and MekeaDanelle Brown; sisters, Catherine (Sonny) Ferguson and Mary Gordon; grandchildren, Konrad Jr., Ka'Ron (Hermina), and Kayla Herring, Reggie Pickett Jr., Antwone and Jordynn Woolfolk, Sha'Kira Funches, Andreia Gaiter, Key'shawn and Qua'darius Goodson, Briajah'na and Ta'Vanne Goodson, Macenzi, Tytus, Cyrus and Malakai Edwards, Antonio, Larry, and Jayme James, Kaniyaa and Chris Goodson Jr., Sh'Niya and Ja'Niyla Edwards, Jordan Junius, Mariah and Ma'Lyek Brown, Serenity King, Le'Rek and De'Ann Moultrie, Cameron and Charlee Brown, and Deiquan Henry; special nephew/son Charles Gordon and his wife Adrena; special friend Marlina Woodson; and a host of extended family and friends.
Per Queen's wishes, a celebration of her life will be held at Liberty Tabernacle, 475 Frank Ave. Barberton, OH 44203. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 11:00 a.m until 12:00 p.m., with a homegoing service beginning at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend Phillip Risby officiating.
