Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalms 30:5
On Sunday, November 6, 2022, as night gave way to a new day, our beloved Quentin transitioned to his Heavenly home. We will always cherish the memories he left with us.
Quentin Sims Foster Jr. (aka) Tony, Q, or Lump, was born to the late Quentin Sims Foster Sr. and Audrey M Foster on December 8, 1943, in Chicago, IL. Tony received his education in Chicago's Catholic and Public School Systems. Tony was an excellent swimmer, which led him to win the All-State Medal while in high school. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam War Era. Then, he returned to the states and decided to make Springfield, Massachusetts, his home.
Tony was a man of knowledge and a lover of music. Jazz was his favorite and it steered him to have a love of the saxophone. Tony was also the family photographer who captured images that led to lasting and cherished memories. Being a true renaissance man, it was no wonder he was also an excellent Chess player. He volunteered to teach middle school students the game and how to win. Tony was a warm, caring, giving man with a big smile. His daughter, Erica the little princess, was his right hand, following him everywhere, fishing, digging for worms, hunting, and going to the target shooting range. They would read the instructions and put electronics together. He taught his son, Bryan, how to drive a car and the importance of maintaining a home. Tony would be Bryan's loudest and biggest fan at all of his basketball games and breakdance competitions.
He was a father figure and a role model to young men who respected and accepted his advice. Tony was also part of our community village where he focused on helping the children. Even in difficult times, Tony was a calm man and a help to many. He could evaluate situations quickly and figure out solutions. The love and pride he felt for the history and culture of black people was a driving force in his life. Everyone he met gained knowledge about our rich history and the great blacks in the field of music.
After graduating from Springfield Technical Community College, he worked for many years for Monsanto/Solutia as a Chemical Engineer. While working at Monsanto, he received several awards/certificates from The Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, Analytic Trouble Shooting Program, and The Statistical Quality Techniques for the Chemical Industry.
After retirement, we would move to the state of Georgia, where he joined Greater Allen AME Church, Macon, GA. There he would participate in many church activities. Tony was a family man who truly loved his church family and would help anyone in need.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Quentin Sims Foster Sr. and Audrey M. Foster.
Quentin leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 52 years, Alnita Foster (aka) Neet, his son, Bryan (Myrel) of Springfield, MA. a bonus daughter Toni (Clark) of Tampa, Fl., his "little princess" Erica Nicole of Felton, DE, two sisters Barbara J. Counts, and Toye Foster both of Chicago, IL, Five grandchildren, Chase, Chance, Ani, Avery, Kaden, and a bonus grandson Jaylen. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts. Tony had a special place in his heart for his nephews Derrick, Anthony, Daron, and Quentin aka Little Q., as well as his niece Lynnie. He leaves his four sisters-in-law, Helen, Bertha, Nadine, and Mildred (Alfred), one brother-in-law, Nathaniel Holmes, an extended family member Robert Farlow III, and a host of other relatives and friends.
