Quitiza Lashonder Holmes, affectionately known as "Q" and "Tiza", passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.
Born on July 26, 1978, in Springfield, MA, Quitiza was a lifelong resident of the city. She proudly obtained her GED and later attended various classes at Springfield Technical Community College. In 2003, Quitiza was employed by Stavros as a personal care associate, a role in which she provided compassionate care to individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions in the comfort of their homes. While she had various jobs over the years, she was most proud of her time at Stavros.
Quitiza had a wide range of interests and hobbies that showcased her vibrant personality. She loved crocheting, singing, coloring, puzzles, working out, and attending church. Her colorful hairstyles, unique outfits, and playful energy were truly a reflection of her lively spirit. While some may have perceived her as shy or timid, she was quite outspoken, especially when advocating and standing up for herself. A quality she will be remembered for.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Erica McArthur, and her parents, Lenius and Bobbie Holmes; and Arthur Bo Hopper. She is survived by her children: Dondre Holmes, Octavia Robbins-Holmes, Jordon Burton, Howard McArthur, Emonye McArthur, and Malaysia Prendergast; her birth mother, Evelyn Williams; multiple sisters, brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends who will cherish her memory.
May Quitiza always be remembered for her love of PINK, her compassionate spirit, and quirky personality. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
