Richard Leon "R.L." Parsons of Paris, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on June 25, 1943, in Chickalah, Arkansas, to the late Richard Luther Parsons and Eunice Euline (Partin) Parsons. He was 80 years old.
For 36 years, R.L. worked and retired from Whirlpool, Inc. in Fort Smith. He loved to go fishing with his buddy and cousin, Brett Parsons, and loved working in his garden watching things grow. He also loved playing the guitar, listening to country music tapes, and watching RFD Television. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19th at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris. Burial will follow at Graves Cemetery in Delaware, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris. Officiating the service will be Bro. Raymond Powell.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Daisy (Pearson) Parsons; two daughters, Tina Zimmer of Cecil and Geneva Dietz and husband David of Scranton; one son, Leslie Parsons of Paris; four grandchildren, Dalton Absher, Hunter Zimmer, Otto Dietz, and Piper Dietz; one great-grandchild, Greyston Absher.
Pallbearers are Dalton Absher, Hunter Zimmer, Bruce Pearson, Stephen Pearson, Cody Ruston, and David Dietz.
The family will visit with friends on Friday an hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m. and services starting at 2:00 p.m.
