R. Lilyquist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rowe Funeral Home and Crematory - Grand Rapids on Aug. 6, 2023.
R. June Lilyquist, age 94, of Remer, MN, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
June was born in 1929 to Samuel and Mamie Lemmage in Rockford, MN. She grew up in Rockford and graduated from Rockford High School. After high school, while on a vacation on Inguadona Lake near Longville, MN, she met Gordon Lilyquist. The two were united in marriage on May 19, 1950, in Robbinsdale, MN. The couple moved to Longville in 1952, where they built a home together and lived until they moved to Remer in 1973. June worked in the Red Owl Meat Department in Longville for 5 years, and then at the Northland Apartments in the CAP program where she was a site supervisor for approximately 12 years. June also worked in Gordy's Laundromat for over 10 years assisting customers. Throughout June's life, she enjoyed gardening, canning, crafting, and cooking. She especially enjoyed making caramel rolls with raisins for her twin children after school. She was an avid reader, enjoying trips to the library, helping with church activities, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. After retirement, June and Gordon loved to travel by tour bus all across the United States, including to Alaska twice. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel, and Mamie Lemmage; husband, Gordon; siblings; Omar, Kenneth, Darvis, Ivar, Gerry, and Goldie. June is survived by her twin children; Linda Johnson, and Craig (Sharon) Lilyquist; brother, John Lemmage; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
An immediate family graveside service will be held at a later date.
