Rachel Anne Uresti

Rachel Anne Uresti, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2025, at the age of 48, while traveling aboard the Utopia of the Seas in the Bahamas. A resident of Chesterfield, Michigan, Rachel touched the lives of many with her boundless compassion, culinary expertise, and vibrant humor.
Born on April 30, 1977, in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, Rachel was the cherished daughter of Richard (Rick) Skokna Sr. and Susan Skokna. She was the supportive and inspiring older sister to Rick Skokna Jr. and the late Kevin Skokna. Rachel grew up in a loving home where family values were deeply rooted, laying the foundation for her future dedication to her own family.
In 1999, Rachel married her best friend and life partner, John Uresti. Their union was blessed with three wonderful children: Alexis, Riley, and Ian, who were the center of her world. Her family expanded with the arrival of her treasured grandchildren, Liam Leach, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Rachel was well-known in her community as an I.T. Specialist, balancing her professional life with her passion for travel and spending time with family. Her kitchen was frequently the heart of gatherings, where her meals and laughter brought warmth to all. She had a unique ability to offer words of wisdom and support, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Sadly, Rachel was predeceased by her loving mother, Susan Skokna, and her youngest brother, Kevin Skokna. Her legacy of love and generosity lives on through her father, Richard (Rick) Skokna Sr., her brother, Richard (Ricky) Skokna Jr., and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom will miss her deeply.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Rachel's life at Wasik Funeral Home, Gendernalik Chapel, 35259 23 Mile Rd., New Baltimore, Michigan. Visitation will take place on Friday, November 7th, from 2-8 pm, with an additional visitation on Saturday, November 8th, from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am.
Arrangements are being handled by Wasik Funeral Home - New Baltimore. Rachel will be profoundly missed but will always be fondly remembered for the love she shared and the happiness she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
