Ruby Rae Keegan, 85, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 12:30 PM, in the funeral home. Afternoon gathering with light bites at Parlor City Pub & Eatery: 1125 3rd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
Ruby "Rae" Keegan was born on May 24, 1938, to William and Nona (Glick) McCammant in Iowa City, Iowa. Rae attended Olin High School in Olin, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Darwin Eugene Keegan on December 29, 1954, in Monticello, Iowa. Rae loved crafting and enjoyed creative projects throughout her life, including owning Country Roads Craft Store in Forest Lake, MN.
Rae lived in Forest Lake, Minnesota for 33 years until she moved back to Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed RV camping, quilting, playing cards, crafting, puzzles, and cooking, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She is survived by her children, Darla (Ron) Kohl of San Antonio, TX; Daniel (Christine) Keegan of Riviera Beach, FL; and Donna Kinsman of Flowery Branch, GA; her sisters, Sarah "Jeanne" Ficken, Betty (Stan) Buesing, Jana (Jack) Walcher; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Kohl, Ashley Stacer, Jennifer Fischer, Mollie Khine, Sarah Good, Austyn Kelly, Samuel Kinsman, Rylee Keegan; 10 great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Rae was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Darwin, her parents, a sister, Lillian "June", two brothers, Jack and Billy, and a brother-in-law, Carl Ficken.
