Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Raeona Mae Stokes, returned to her heavenly home with honor on November 24th, 2024, with her family by her side at McKay Dee Hospital in
Ogden, Utah.
Raeona was born January 28, 1937, to Roy and Mae Goldie Maughan.
Raeona had a deep passion and love for her faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed her many callings from Primary President, Young Women's President, Relief Society President, Advisor to Relief Society (W.S.U.), Temple Worker, Chorister and Primary teacher. She loved being involved in her community and serving as a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers along with doing ceramics at the North Ogden Senior Center.
Raeona married Gary Eugene Stokes on December 1, 1955, in the Manti Utah temple. They celebrated 62 years together before Gary's passing in 2017. Together they raised and cherished their family of five.
Raeona loved being a good friend and a listening ear of comfort for her family and friends. She loved reading, singing, camping, fishing and watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers. Mom loved watching or listening to every Los Angeles Dodgers game.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Pine View Transitional Rehabilitation, McKay Dee Hospital, Dr. Curtis Healey and Dr. Ryan McDonald for their compassionate care that they gave our sweet mom Raeona.
Raeona is preceded in death by her husband, Gary E. Stokes, parents Roy & Mae Goldie Maughan, brothers Gary Paul Maughan and Glen Maughan, sister Marveda East, and granddaughter Hailey Stokes.
She is survived by her daughter Candace (Jared) Hartmann, sons, Michael (Shirley) Stokes, Scott (Ruth) Stokes, Todd (Kim) Stokes and John (Lori) Stokes. Raeona is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren with four more on the way along with 1 great-great grandson with one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Ben Lomond 10th Ward, 3350 N. 1050 E. in North Ogden. A viewing will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 29, 2024 at the Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden and at the church on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
