Con gran pesar anunciamos el fallecimiento de Rafaela Valenzuela el 2 de octubre de 2025. Nacida el 1 de abril de 1941 en Sinoquipe Sonora, pasó sus últimos momentos en Nogales, Arizona, dejando un legado que su familia y amigos atesorarán por siempre.

Rafaela fue una mujer extraordinaria, con un corazón que tenía la extraordinaria capacidad de acoger a todos los que la rodeaban. Descrita como "con un corazón tan grande que todos cabíamos dentro", recibía a todos en su hogar y vida con calidez y generosidad. Su profundo amor por su hogar y jardín era evidente en cada flor y comida que preparaba, donde los aromas de su deliciosa cocina siempre se podían encontrar flotando en el aire. De alma independiente, se enorgullecía de ser autosuficiente, y su bondad no tenía límites; muchos buscaban sus consejos, y su fe la afianzó en cada etapa de la vida.

Mujer devota y alegre, Rafaela irradiaba felicidad y compartía un inmenso amor por sus nietos y bisnietos. Tenía un vínculo inquebrantable con sus hijos Alejandro, Jesús, Ernesto, Miguel y Carlos, así como con su hija María Jesús Fuentes. También apreciaba profundamente a sus hermanos Adrián y Miguel Soto, quienes la acompañaron durante toda su vida.

El legado de Rafaela continúa con fuerza a través de su numerosa y amorosa familia. Sus nietos —Miguel Ángel, Valeria Daniela, María Teresa, Laura Lizeth, Paola Gabriela, Ana Lucía, Miguel, Karla Mitchel, Carlos Alberto, Nancy Yolanda, Alejandro, Ana Ruth, Eduardo, Jesús, Marisol, Vanessa y Ángel— llevan su espíritu en el corazón. Además, sus bisnietos —Edward, Regina, Jesús Antonio, Nicolás Alejandro, José Humberto, Mia Alexandra, Michael James, Isabelle Madisson, Sophie Maree, Zoie McKenzie, Aziel David, Mateo Cristóbal, Alberto, Mario Abraham, Carlos Mateo y Oria Sofía— la recordarán como una luz que los guió, personificando su amor y calidez en el camino de sus vidas.

La vida de Rafaela no estuvo exenta de tristezas. Le precedieron en la muerte sus queridos padres, Miguel Soto y Josefa Acuña, así como sus hermanos José, Manuel y Fernando, y sus hermanas Aurora, María de los Ángeles y Nery Luz. Sin embargo, incluso en medio de la pérdida, su espíritu se mantuvo inquebrantable, enseñando a todos los que la conocieron el poder de la resiliencia, la fe y el amor.

El velatorio de Rafaela se llevará a cabo el 5 de octubre de 2025, de 17:00 a 21:00, seguido del rosario a las 19:00 en la Funeraria Martínez de Nogales, Arizona. La misa de entierro cristiano se celebrará el 6 de octubre de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica del Sagrado Corazón a las 14:00, y el entierro en el Cementerio de la Ciudad de Nogales a las 15:30.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rafaela Valenzuela on October 2, 2025. Born on April 1, 1941, in Sinoquipe Sonora, she spent her final moments in Nogales, Arizona, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished by her family and friends.

Rafaela was a remarkable woman whose heart had the extraordinary capacity to embrace all those around her. Described as having "un corazón tan grande que todos cabiamos dentro," she welcomed everyone into her home and life with warmth and generosity. Her profound love for her home and garden was evident in every bloom and meal she prepared, where the aromas of her delicious cooking could always be found wafting through the air. An independent soul, she took pride in being self-sufficient, and her kindness knew no bounds; her advice was sought by many, and her faith anchored her in every season of life.

A devoutly religious and joyful woman, Rafaela radiated happiness and shared an immense love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an unyielding bond with her sons Alejandro, Jesus, Ernesto, Miguel, and Carlos, as well as her daughter Maria Jesus Fuentes. She also cherished her brothers Adrian and Miguel Soto, who stood by her side throughout their lives.

Rafaela's legacy continues brightly through her large and loving family. Her grandchildren—Miguel Angel, Valeria Daniela, Maria Teresa, Laura Lizeth, Paola Gabriela, Ana Lucia, Miguel, Karla Mitchel, Carlos Alberto, Nancy Yolanda, Alejandro, Ana Ruth, Eduardo, Jesus, Marisol, Vanessa, Angel—carry her spirit in their hearts. Additionally, her great-grandchildren—Edward, Regina, Jesus Antonio, Nicholas Alejandro, Jose Humberto, Mia Alexandra, Michael James, Isabelle Madisson, Sophie Maree, Zoie McKenzie, Aziel David, Mateo Cristobal, Alberto, Mario Abraham, Carlos Mateo, and Oria Sofia—will remember her as a guiding light, embodying her love and warmth as they navigate their own lives.

Rafaela's life was not without its sorrows. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Miguel Soto and Josefa Acuña, as well as her brothers Jose, Manuel, and Fernando, and her sisters Aurora, Maria De Los Angeles, and Nery Luz. Yet, even amidst loss, her spirit remained unbroken, teaching all who knew her the power of resilience, faith, and love.

Rafaela’s visitation will take place on October 5, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM at Martinez Funeral Chapels in Nogales, AZ. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on October 6, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 2:00 PM, with interment to follow at Nogales City Cemetery at 3:30 PM.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. As we bid farewell to Rafaela Valenzuela, we celebrate her remarkable life and the beautiful memories she has left with us. May she find peace in eternal rest, encircled by the love she so freely shared.
