Raleigh Wright Sr. was born on March 17, 1934 to Levi Wright and Ridie Ward.

He received his formal education at Carbondale Community High School. He was a member of the track & field team, swim team, and baseball team.

Raleigh enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. He was recognized with the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United States Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. After his time in the military, he went on to play semiprofessional baseball.

Raleigh was employed by Steel Maker as a security guard. He also worked for JLCase Co., Pepsi Cola, Securitas Security, and U.S. Bank. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones. Raleigh will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Raleigh Wright Sr. departed this life on November 16, 2025. He was preceded in death by his: father, Levi Wright; mother, Ridie Ward; wife, Lorraine Lewis Wright; brothers, Charles, Robert, Douglas, Archie, Cornell, Paul, and Salis; sisters, Mattie and Arzine; daughter, Sheila M. Combs; sons, Eddie Lee Tillman, William Earl Combs, Damon Jackson, and Raleigh Garner; grandsons, Devan Combs and Ryan Sims; and great-granddaughter, Trinity Linwood.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Tina Tillman, Regina Wright, Pamela Wright, Tiffany Williams, Latrice Young, and LaTasha Lewis; sons, Raleigh Wright Jr., Kenny Jackson, Leroy Jackson, and LeVar Wells; grandchildren, Laquita Powell, Christopher L. Wright, Michael Linwood, Taylor Travis, Kayden Travis, Melonie Linwood, Skylar Linwood, Elijah Linwood, Paris Jackson, Tearra Jackson, Lydell Young, Jazmine Young, Kesha Williams, Brittany Williams, Alexys Williams, Kentrelle Benson Jr., Tekyira Benson, and Kendall Benson; great-grandchildren, Jordan Bell-Sims, Gia C. Wright, Lianni Wright, Christopher L. Wright Jr., London Jackson, Levi Jackson, Lamb Jackson, and Deries Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Interment on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin.
