Ralph "Shorty" Balthrop

Funeral services for Mr. Balthrop will be Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home, with Mr. Jerry Leach and Mr. David Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:30-7:30 at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Mr. Balthrop was born on November 20, 1937 in Dyer County, Tennessee, the son of the late Ed and Gladys Brown Balthrop. He was the retired owner of Volunteer Realty and former employee of Rick Hill Nissan. Mr. Balthrop is survived by one daughter, Jan Balthrop Menard of Centennial, Colorado; two sons, Marty Balthrop of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Doug Balthrop of Newbern, Tennessee; three sisters, Sue Ladd of Greenfield, Tennessee, JoAnn Ladd of Newbern, Tennessee and Mary Kate Ladd of Atoka, Tennessee; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed Balthrop and Billy Balthrop; and the Mother of his children, Janice. Pallbearers will be Danny Joe Ladd, Mike Ladd, Jeff Ladd, Jonathan Ownby, Ray Horner and John Boatwright. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mr. Ralph "Shorty" Balthrop.
