Ralph J. Bellafronte, 74, passed away on November 11, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in Somerville, New Jersey. Born in New Brunswick, Ralph grew up there before residing in Edison for several years and later settling in Middlesex, where he made his home for over 25 years.
Ralph was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving his country from 1969 to 1972 during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971 with the transport division and took pride in his role as an American soldier. When stationed in Texas, Ralph was honored with the responsibility of transporting dignitaries and high-ranking military officers visiting the base. His dedication to his country was evident every day as he flew the American flag alongside the MIA flag at his home, a testament to his patriotism.
Ralph built a long career at General Motors in Linden, where he worked for over 30 years. He began as an assembly line worker and later transitioned to a role as a forklift operator, showcasing his dedication and work ethic throughout his career.
Beyond his career and military service, Ralph enjoyed the tranquility of freshwater fishing, often finding peace on the lake. He was also known for his impressive collection of trucks, a hobby he cherished since the early 1980s. A passionate sports fan, Ralph was an avid supporter of the New York Mets and the New York Giants, finding joy in cheering for his favorite teams.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Jane Conner, his daughter, Danielle Conner, and her fiancé Joe Machin, and his beloved granddaughter, Giavanna. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Bellafronte, his brother-in-law, Thomas Salerno, and three nieces, Millie Phillip, Brianna Phillip, and Natalie Phillip. Ralph was predeceased by his sister, Anne Marie Rinker.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A military service will follow at 3:00 PM.
In recognition of Ralph's service to his country, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers.
Ralph's strength, loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his country and family will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
