Ralph Bellfy Obituary

Ralph Bellfy

January 3, 1936 - October 6, 2025

Ralph Anthony Bellfy, 89, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2025.

Born January 3, 1936, Ralph was a Korean War Army Veteran, and lived a full life marked by hard work, laughter and devotion to his family.

Ralph made a living as a truck driver. After he navigated long highways at work, he could be found racing his red, white, and blue Jeep under the name Uncle Ralph. He also loved fishing, trips to the casino, playing cards, and westerns.

Family and friends knew Ralph as generous and kind. Always ready to lend a helping hand and to share whatever he had, be it a joke, wisdom, or his time. His kindness and selflessness left an impression on everyone he met and most deeply in the hearts of loved ones.

Ralph's greatest pride and joy was his wife and family. He and his beloved spouse, Alice, were married October 20, 1956. A testimony to their deep bond and enduring love. Together they raised 6 children. Over the years that love spread further to grandchildren and great-grandchildren that were blessed to call him Grandpa, and GG papa.

He is survived by his spouse of 68 years, Alice; his six children, John (Cheryl) Bellfy, Amy (Kyle) Rush, Tim (Linda) Bellfy, Matthew (Danielle) Bellfy, Mary (David) Bender, and Julie Bellfy; 3 sisters; and several grand and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace; and father, Joseph Bellfy; 7 siblings; and his daughter, Julie's, wife, Holly.

Ralph requested no memorial services be held. A brick with Ralph's name will be laid at Toledo's Korean War Memorial, located on the Civic Center Mall downtown. He asked to celebrate his long life with a square dance. In lieu of flowers the family asks to share a simple note of gratitude or share a memory.

Ralph's life, lived with integrity, laughter, and generosity, will be remembered forever by those who loved him.

That's my dad. A wonderfully humble and generous human. Thank you for teaching me how to grow and tend a garden- so I can enjoy and appreciate what land has to offer, to share abundance with neighbors - whether it be food, service, or company, and to be inappropriate at times-because everyone needs a smile.

Ralph was a great man, he always had the ability to make me laugh. When we were neighbors I would come home to find my lawn cut, I´d give him a hard time saying he didn´t need to do that and the answer was always the same, "no problem I was already cutting". He was a mechanical genius always finding a way to make things work even though they were pretty much junk. One of the greatest things I loved was when Ralph and my father became great friends, my pops loved him and the two together was always a good time. Unfortunately times change and I hadn´t heard from Ralph in years but I always thought of him and always hoped he was doing well. He was a great friend and a person I loved. My thoughts and prayers go out to Alice and the rest of the family.

Alice I am so sorry for your family´s loss! Ralph was my Dads best friend. I dearly loved the time I spent with both Ralph & yourself. I still laugh about the time he allowed me to dye his hair! We laughed SO HARD when I rinsed out the color & his hair ended up a weird orange red!!! He laughed & was such a good sport. Some of my favorite times in my life included both yourself & Ralph. He always showed up at M & D´s house with donuts. He will always be a shining treasure in my heart. My life was blessed having both you & Ralph being part of it. My prayers go out to you & your entire family. I send my condolences to each one of you. Again, I´m so very sorry for you & your family´s loss. Ralph will live "forever" in my heart!
I will always be grateful & love you both! Next time I see you again, I´ll bring the donuts! Goodbye for now my friend You definitely earned your angel wings
