Ralph Michael Derby, 76, of Forreston, passed away, Sunday January 8, 2023 in his home. Ralph was born April 27, 1946 in Freeport, the son of Kenneth and Alma (Stengel) Derby. He married Elyzabeth "Lyz" Erdmier September 1, 1973 in Shannon. Ralph proudly served his country in the US Army. Ralph work on his family farm for many years, it was a job he always loved. Ralph then worked as an operator for several local construction companies throughout the years. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Freeport Eagles Club, and Operators #150. Ralph always had a deep love for animals, especially his canine friend, Stella. Surviving is his wife, Lyz of Forreston; two daughters, Kristin Derby (Chris Frey) of Shannon and Jessica (Daniel) Asche of Naples, Florida; two granddaughters, Reagan and Harper Asche. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Floyd. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday January 13, 2023 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. Visitation will be Thursday 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. also at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Foreston. Burial will be in West Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ralph's family asks that you make a donation to your favorite local animal shelter.
