Funeral services for Ralph Domel, 77, of Schertz, Texas, formerly of
Giddings, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in San Antonio, Texas, with Rev. Craig Meissler and Rev. Mike Middaugh officiating. A visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Visitation at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with graveside services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Giddings City Cemetery.
Ralph Kenneth Domel was born August 19, 1948, in La Grange, Texas, to Bert and Lorine (Malke) Domel. He was baptized on September 5, 1948, at St. John Lutheran Church in Dime Box, Texas, by Rev. Paul Brust. Ralph was confirmed April 15, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in
Giddings, Texas by Rev. Max Studtmann. His confirmation verse was Rev. 3:21, (To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne). On July 28, 1973, Ralph married the love of his life Debbie McKeown. To this union, they were blessed to add two sons, Adam and Jason. Ralph was a truck driver for close to 50 years, having worked for L.D. McCloud Trucking for the past 23 years. He was dedicated to his church and was a Lead Usher for many years. When he wasn't working or volunteering his time, he enjoyed being a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns, watching and attending NASCAR races, taking trips with Mary and Douglas. But most of all, spending time with Debbie and his boys.
Ralph passed away the morning of Tuesday, February 10, 2026, in San Antonio, with his family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Lorine Domel; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Josie and AC Flippo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Linda Flippo, and brother-in-law, Larry Mitschke.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Debbie Domel of Schertz; two children, Adam Domel and wife, Bridget Speer of Austin, and Jason Domel of Missouri City; one sister, Janice Mitschke of Giddings; two sisters-in-law, Mary and husband Doug Jatzlau of Giddings, and Wanda Mertink of Giddings; one brother-in-law, Terry and wife Beatrice Flippo of Smithville; beloved dog, Chewie as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Serving as pallbearers will be Terry Flippo, Douglas Jatzlau, Shaun Jatzlau, Ed Lingg, Adam Domel, and Jason Domel. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert (Bob) Rowe, Randal Mitschke, and Jim Mitschke.
Memorials may be given to Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, the
American Cancer Society, CAM Ministries of San Antonio, or the charity of one's choice.
