Obituary of Ralph J. Ercole
When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Ralph Joseph Ercole, a longtime Morristown resident, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was 64 years young. Ralph was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 28, 1960, and was the cherished son of Josephine and Abramo Ercole (1934-1976). Josephine and Abramo filled Ralph's life with love, tradition, and family values, which he instilled in his own family.
Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Colleen Ercole (née Clark); four devoted children, Jonathan Ercole and his wife Jessica, Justin Ercole and his significant other Emily, Christian Ercole and his wife Amy, and Gabrielle Ercole and her significant other Matthew; his loving mother, Josephine Ercole; one sister, Ann Marie Ercole; one brother, Joseph Ercole; his cherished grandchildren, Reagan Rose, Riley Josephine, and Reid David; his treasured dog, Bowie; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Ralph grew up in Dix Hills and attended South Ridge Elementary School and Green Meadows Junior High. Shortly after the loss of his father, he graduated as valedictorian from Commack High School. Ralph went on to pursue higher education at Fordham University - College of Business Administration, where he excelled academically and earned a B.S. in finance with summa cum laude honors. During these formative college years, he lived with his Aunt Marge, Uncle Ted, and cousins Eddie and Steve in the Bronx.
Upon graduating, Ralph began his successful career on Wall Street working for O'Connor & Associates and quickly became Vice President of U.S. Specialist Operations. He continued to progress in his career and served as a key employee at various other institutions such as Bear Sterns, Lehman Brothers, Knight Financial Products, Vicis Capital Management and several other organizations.
Despite his professional achievements, Ralph viewed his greatest accomplishment as his beloved family. He married his soulmate, Colleen, on March 21, 1987 and they settled in Morristown where they built a beautiful life together and raised their four children: Jonathan, Justin, Christian and Gabrielle.
As an avid sports fan, Ralph served as the coach for several of his children's sports teams, attending athletic events with them and supporting them in all their academic and co-curricular pursuits. His family fondly remembers Ralph's interest in cooking and grilling for nightly family dinners, particularly his spicy sausage and peppers, which he made on a routine basis. Acting as a master of the grill always brought him so much happiness. He cherished every moment with his grandchildren and was blessed to have made so many memories with them - they absolutely adored their "Poppy". When Ralph wasn't spending time with his children or grandchildren, he could be found with his golden retrievers, Ryder and Bowie.
Ralph continued sacrificing and working to provide for his family until his last day. They all turned to him for advice and will continue to seek his guidance through prayer in the future. There is no doubt that Ralph had an impact on everyone he met. He was a pillar of wisdom, guidance and strength for all.
Despite the deep sadness in his family's hearts, they take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, watching over his most prized and cherished achievements from above. With his early departure, Ralph had so much more love to give and smiles to be had. We hope we can all honor his legacy in the years to come. He will be with us every Yankee and Giants game we watch, football cake and rainbow cookie we eat, and every achievement and milestone we make. He is deeply missed and will continue to be for the rest of our days.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Ralph from 1pm to 5pm EST on Sunday, May 5, held at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison, NJ 07940.
Funeral services will begin at 11am EST on Monday, May 6 celebrated at Saint Mary's Abbey located at 230 Mendham Road, Morristown, NJ 07960.For those who wish or are unable to attend, the mass may be livestreamed by visiting this link.

I had the pleasure of working with Ralph as one of his mentors for the past 5 months. He was a kind and thoughtful person and made it through our training and our busiest time of year with humor and wit. We talked about NJ and the Yankees - especially Anthony Volpe and how he went to the same school as Ralph's children! We will miss his presence on our team. My deepest condolences to the Ercole family.

I was lucky enough to work with Ralph for a very short period of time. He was a kind, funny and thoughtful man. He called me out of the blue on Friday just to thank me for helping him through training at BR, no other reason. I am so thankful to have received his call and the kind words he shared. I enjoyed working with him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I send my condolences to his family.

Ralph was a very sweet, caring, determined and honest person. I had the honor to work along side him for the past 5 months. He was a great team player and got the job done. Whenever we needed something for our campaign he would say, "I'm on it" and would provide me what I needed the same day. I am so sad to hear of his sudden passing. It truly breaks my heart to know this wonderful person is gone. You were a great Relationship Manager and I enjoyed working with you everyday. Rest easy my friend.

Although I never had the privilege of meeting Ralph, I have had the opportunity to witness his incredible impact on his daughter, Brielle. From the way she speaks of him with such love and admiration, it is evident that Ralph was not only a good man but also an amazing father. His guidance, love, and support have shaped Brielle into the remarkable person she is today. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength for all who knew him.

I express my sincerest condolences to the Ercole family.

Dearest Ralph:

This is your brother-in-law, Scott. I am shocked and debilitated to your passing.
Monumental grief to your beautiful wife, Colleen, the kids and entire family.

Oddly, almost 2 years to the day you spontaneously wrote to me stating upon my return back to Raleigh, "See you on the other Side." I was unaware you genuinely meant such- I will keep a close and loving, watchful eye on your miraculous and loving Colleen, The kids and my Godson, Christian.

Brother, please keep the light on for me.

Joe, outstanding and great tribute message for our brother! Keep an eye on Josephine with such Loss- I truly enjoyed your well written, and loving passage.

Grief Weakens. Compassion Strengthens. Support Fortifies.

Love,

Scott Clark

Words cannot fully express the loss of my brother Ralph Ercole on April 28, 2024.
The many good memories are cherished and live on with us. Ralph wants us to live on in the good memories.
Ralph began life in Ridgewood NY, our family moved to Dix Hills NY as Ralph attended South Ridge Elementary School, going on to Green Meadows Junior High School, and Ralph graduated from Commack HS South with the highest grade point average as valedictorian. I remember seeing my brother speak at his high school graduation. He could have gone anywhere as an undergraduate. With our father Abramo passing 2 years before his high school graduation, he moved in with his Aunt Marge, Uncle Ted, cousins Ed and Steve in the Bronx to attend Fordham University, graduating summa cum laude at the top of his class. He brought me to his classes one day and in the gym for an intense game of basketball to see what Fordham University is about. He was great sportsman, coached his children in sports, avid football fan, especially the Giants, loved college basketball, and he had a great jump shot... and would occasionally let me win in our backyard basketball court. He began a clothes sales business at an outdoor market and the whole family supported, even his Grandparents. Upon graduating from Fordham University Ralph worked on Wall St., the American Stock Exchange, earning to purchase his own seat on the American Stock Exchange... the Exchange merged and is now the New York Stock Exchange American. I remember meeting him and his tour as we walked along the floor of the American Stock Exchange in his Navy Blue Exchange jacket as he talked with others and he worked flashing hand signals doing trades. He continued working until his last day here and continued with caring for family until his last day. He was the best big brother, and a great human being! Ralph, Ann Marie, and I had an apartment when Ralph started working at the American Stock Exchange and I attended St. John's University and sister Ann Marie was finishing New York University. Ralph moved to NJ when he met and married Colleen and moved to NJ to start family. He married Colleen in 1987 and I was honored to be his Best Man... my speech included the words, Love understand Love it needs no talk. Ralph and Colleen have 4 children, Jonathan (married to Jessica, have children Reagan, Riley, Reid), Justin, Christian (married to Amy), Brielle. My wonderful brother will always be in my heart... was there like my father. Ralph was a Son, the 1st child of our Mother Josephine & Father Abramo (1934-1976), Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Godfather, and friend. Rest in peace my dear brother, I miss you already
God Bless my family, friends and all who knew my brother Ralph Ercole (1960-2024)
The love is steadfast as the stars and endures as the word of the prophet.
"Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling" (1 John 2:9-10).
Psalm 73:26: "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
