Ralph G. Smith

Ralph G. Smith, age 84 of Seaman, Ohio formerly of Brookville, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on November 4, 2025. He was born July 28, 1941 in Elgin, Tennessee son of the late Bud and Martha "Lena" Newport.

Ralph was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a United States Army 101st Airborne Division Ranger who proudly served his Country. After the military he went on to work at several plants in the Dayton area before starting Smith's Roofing. He was a lifelong member of the VFW of Brookville, Ohio. After retirement Ralph and his wife moved to Adams County where they raised cattle. He was a faithful member of Fairfax United Methodist Church. Ralph will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by daughters, Mary Ann (David) Ison and Martha Madewell; grandson, Daniel Marshall; granddaughters, Erica Smith, Megan Smith, and Jesica Young.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Diane Smith; children, Margaret Smith, Robyn (Joe) Caplinger, and David (Kim) Sherer; grandchildren, Billy, Chris (Cassi), Chelsea (Dave), Brooke, Katie; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Paul (Beulah) Newport; sisters, Verlie (Dale) Webb and Pauline (Steve) Shoemaker; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 9:00am to 10:00am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A funeral service will begin at 10:00am with Pastor Raymond Rothwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Ralph's honor to Hospice of Hope.
