Ralph Sanford Giles

Ralph Sanford Giles, age 86, of Lenoir City, passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 24, 2025. A U.S. Army veteran and longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Ralph lived with determination and a presence that never went unnoticed. He worked at Y-12 for 20 years.
Ralph was a complex man-rough around the edges, intense, and full of fire. He had a spark inside him that drove everything he did, and you definitely didn't want to land on his bad side. But that same fire fueled his incredible work ethic and his ability to build or engineer just about anything. When he set his mind to something, he didn't stop until it was done, and done right.
He balanced his toughness with a loud sense of humor, always saying something goofy or unexpected. He especially loved aggravating his great-grandchildren, teasing them with that mischievous grin and booming voice that made the whole room know he was there.
Simple pleasures brought him joy: time with family, a plate of seafood, and the rumble of a Harley-Davidson beneath him.
Ralph was preceded in death by his sons, Chuck Giles and Sean Giles, and by his parents, Mohlar and Lucille Giles.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, humor, intensity, and a spirit that won't soon be forgotten. To know him was to love him. We'll go from there then!
Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years, Gipsy Phillips Giles; son, Poynor & Tammy Giles; daughter in-law: Julie Giles; granddaughters: Taryn "Poopsadilly" & Briänné Harris, Alexis "Pooh" & Josh Turbeville, Tiffany McAnally and Teia Lucas; grandsons: Trevor "Hoss" & Cheyenne Giles, Tucker "Buck" & Jessica Giles, Tannor "Slick" & Kelsie Giles, Hunter "Leroy" & Paige Giles; great-grandchildren: Punkin, Rambo, Buckaroo, Tootie, Spud, Duggan, Peanut, Twister, Dookie, Sweet Pea, Petunia, Shia, Kias, Hose A, Hose B & Stinker.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, November 30th at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City with Rev. Eddie Chasteen officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Loudon County Veterans Honor Guard.
