Ralph Giobbe Obituary

Published by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - New Haven on Nov. 15, 2013.
Ralph Sebastian Giobbe, born March 10, 1928, in Boston, died Nov. 15, 2013. He is survived by his daughters Deirdre Gaskin and Anney Giobbe, his sons Michael Giobbe and Paul Giobbe, his granddaughter, Jessica Nunez, and his sister Nancy Dandurant. Ralph attended Arlington (Mass.) High School. He was a Korean War veteran who received the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. After graduating cum laude from Boston University, he returned to Arlington High to teach languages and later became an administrator. Ralph was known for his faith and devotion as a Catholic. In 1989 he moved to Naples, Fla., and became an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. He volunteered in the prison ministry and belonged to several parish prayer groups. He delivered the Eucharist and meals to the homebound and taught ESL to farmworkers. Through these ministries he touched many lives, bringing comfort, solace and inspiration. He loved his Florida family, especially Hugh Byrnes, JoAn Carter, Rosetta Hunt, Jean Popoli and Father Bernie Evanofski, to name a few. Ralph had a mean tennis game, a great smile and an exceptional sense of humor. He loved the arts, languages and the Catholic Church. Special thanks to John Gaskin, and to Owen Mighty, who were Ralph's friend and caregiver in his last months. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. If there is a Mass in heaven, we know who is giving the reading. We love you, Dad rest in peace.
