Ralph Edward Gray Jr

1937 - 2025

Ralph Edward Gray, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2025. He was 87 years old.

He was born December 24, 1937, in Oak Park, Illinois, and moved to Memphis, Tennessee a few years later with his brother, James, and parents, Ambrozine and Ralph Sr.

He was a proud graduate of Central High School and attended Trinity United Methodist Church growing up. Ralph majored in business at Memphis State-where he became a lifelong fan of the Tigers-and then spent many years in corporate cash management at Holiday Inn.

Ralph was an active member of Second Presbyterian Church up until his death and faithfully served in the past as a deacon. He was a multiple-time winner of the Kirby Woods Yard of the Month and remembered for his walks around the neighborhood, where he spoke to everyone he came across.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Genie, and daughter, Piper Gray. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be sent to Second Presbyterian or Samaritan's Purse's life-saving medical work, a cause dear to them as Genie underwent an essential surgery two decades ago.

The family is especially grateful to the PALs and nursing staff at Belmont Village and the team at Baptist Trinity Hospice.

Memorial Service will be Wednesday January 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Second Presbyterian Church. Reception will follow at 11:00 AM in The Salmon Room..
