Please accept my deepest sympathy on the passing of your father, father-in-law and grandfather. Mr. Hart ( I always called him that) was such a neat man, always joking with me. He was a deeply religious man and I know his family as well as everyone at Broadus will miss him greatly. Both of your parents were great Christians and never failed to speak to me. Although it has been quite some time since I have been a member, whenever I would go back to visit, he always made a point to speak to me. Please know that my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family as you go through the grieving process.

Mary and Mason, church just won't seem the same without him there to pick on me (imagine that!) and call me "Meanness" and my answer of "Trouble." He was a dear and will be missed. Thinking of you.

Judy and I write this to you with a humble heart today. The neighborhood has lost one of its pioneers. For as long as I can remember, your dad walked twice a day every day for years to get exercise. We would have conversation almost every day during those walks. Sometimes they would last almost an hour. Not only did I have a special place in my heart for your dad, but he touched just about everybody in the neighborhood in some way. During his recovery when he couldn’t walk, I had so many people on their walks stop by and ask about your dad. I even had people ask me about him at the YMCA. He would have conversation with just anyone that wanted to talk. He would also listen with an open heart and that’s what the world needs more of, people who are willing to listen. He reminded me of my grandfather. He would jokingly get on me every day; from my hedges being crooked, to missing a line of grass when I cut the yard, and even kidding Judy about how she could’ve done so much better than me. I enjoyed the talks we had about God and we even talked about Mrs. Hart. He told me on more than one occasion that he had lived a good life and that he couldn’t have asked for more. I do know one thing for sure. Mr. Hart loved the Lord, his wife, his children, and his church. He was a proud man and you could feel the presence of the Lord when you talked to him. I never saw that man without a smile; ever. He will be greatly missed.

Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I know you will miss him dearly. My thoughts are with you and your brother. Take care of yourself.

Dear Mary,
I loved your "Pop" so much, and will always remember his smiling face when we'd see him at church. He is well and happy now, and with your sweet mom. Your family is in my prayers, dear friend. Love, Kathleen

My family and I where Mr. Harts neighbor on Penley Ave for years, he was such a kind man and always had something nice to say, he always took the time to speak to my grandmother on his daily walks. He will be missed. I am sure he was welcomed in heaven with open arms!
