It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Ralph E. Jamison (91) on October 9, 2024 in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Born May 9, 1933 to Ralph Claude Jamison and Jean Myrtle (Spray) in Freeburg, Missouri.Ralph was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ruth (Jamison) Reno and Joyce Joann (Jamison) Billmeyer, along with his beloved daughter, Randi Diane (Jamison) Gage. He was also preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Myra Joan (Tindall) Jamison, along with his loving second wife, Dolores (Seibert) Jamison.
Ralph also leaves a legacy of family and friends who will forever miss him, including daughters, Kelly Jean (Jamison) Ortiz (Bill) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Christine Marie (Jamison) Quillen (Ray) and Dana Lee Jamison, both of Huntington, MA, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren, along with a multitude of friends whose lives he touched along the way.
Ralph was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force from 1951-1954, serving his country with dignity and bravery. In later years you rarely saw him without his Korean War Vet cap, graciously accepting gratitude from others for his service.
After the Air Force Ralph began a career alongside his father, as a journeyman electrician and lineman for IBEW. He later transitioned into an electrical engineering position at the St. Lucie Nuclear plant, where he worked for several years retiring in 1998 as superintendent, lead engineer, and project manager for Raytheon.
During his lifetime he enjoyed, and excelled at, numerous hobbies and pursuits - even owning & operating his own hobby shop where he built and flew model airplanes. His kids and their cousins have very fond memories of Dad / Uncle Ralph. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and boater never returning home empty-handed. Later in life, he became a motorcycle enthusiast, first on a sporty cruiser and then graduating to his pride and joy “Big Blue” his Honda Goldwing that proudly sits in his garage still today. We just won’t talk about the time he took a ride on the sidewalk!
After retirement, he became a champion archer, belonging to the Treasure Coast Archery Club and competing several times in the Senior Olympics in Costa Rica. For the last several years of his life, his favorite pastime was target rifle shooting at the Martin County Sportsmen’s Association where he could often be heard bragging that he was the best of “The Old Farts Club”. I’m sure he and his friend Allen are still likely debating that.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, in Jensen Beach, FL on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11am. Graveside interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Gary Sinise Foundation and/or The Salvation Army, both causes very near and dear to his heart.
