Ralph Parrett Obituary

Ralph L. Parrett, Jr., 71, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on July 19, 2006 at his home. He was the husband of Joyce Fenstermacher Parrett, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage. Born in Wilmington, Del, he was the son of Florence Veazey Parrett of Oxford, PA, and the late Ralph L. Parrett, Sr. Ralph graduated in 1952 from Kennett High School and briefly attended the University of Delaware. He served in both the U. S. Army and the U. S. Army Reserves. He was a member of Unionville Presbyterian Church. Ralph worked in the telecommunications industry for 36 years, retiring from Verizon in 1989. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, and together they visited all 50 states. In 1993 they followed the Oregon Trail as part of the Trail�s 150th celebration, making part of the trip by covered wagon. Ralph was also a member of the Argosy Camping Club. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Parrett and her husband Rick Hohner, of Kennett Square, and Julie Parrett and her husband Mike Shaw, of Seattle, WA; and three grandchildren who brought him great joy: Molly and Jacob Hohner, and Lea Shaw. Ralph is also survived by two brothers: Robert Parrett and his wife Betsy of Chadds Ford, and Richard Parrett and his wife Nancy, of Bethany Beach, Del; one sister: Carol Hammond of West Chester; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at Unionville Presbyterian Church, 815 Wollaston Rd., Unionville, PA. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 9 to 11 at the church. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ralph�s memory to Unionville Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 447, Unionville, PA 19375 or to a scholarship fund in Ralph�s name through the Kennett Education Foundation, P.O. Box 849, Kennett Square, PA 19348. Arrangements are being handled by the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home of Kennett Square (610-444-4116)
