Ralph H. Thompson

Ralph H. Thompson of Fort Myers Florida passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026 surrounded by his family after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Ralph was born on February 4, 1950 in Cambridge, MA the third of nine children of Ronald and Doris Thompson. He grew up in Cambridge and graduated from the UMass-Boston Park Square campus where he earned "Who's Who in America" recognition. He went on to earn his MBA and had a long and successful career as an Executive with Verizon, including time in Connecticut, Gibraltar and Andover.

Ralph was very family focused and doted on Donna, his wife of 51 years, and their boys Jeff, Scott and Brian. The family enjoyed summers at their house in York Beach, ME, where they hosted many large and memorable gatherings of extended family, and the boys worked summer jobs before going back home to school in Andover. He was ever present at the boys' basketball and soccer games and musical performances, and coached in the Andover youth basketball program. One special memory happened when their family took advantage of their time living in Gibraltar to make a trip to the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games including watching the legendary "Dream Team" that won basketball gold. Ralph loved to sing Karaoke including his signature song What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong, most often performed wearing one of his iconic rugby shirts. He was the funniest and friendliest guy in the room and became fast friends with so many people. Ralph was happiest when he was with his two beautiful grandchildren Joel and Luca, and always looked forward to his next trip to Sweden to visit them.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna (Witunsky); devoted sons Jeff of Miami, FL, Scott and his wife Hanna of Stockholm, Sweden and Brian and his fiancé Lindsay Abel of Scottsdale, AZ; loving Grandpa to Joel and Luca Thompson of Stockholm. Adored son of the late Ronald and Doris Thompson. Cherished brother of Ronald and Marge of Londonderry, NH, Richard and Becky of Portland, ME, Judy Theriault of Medford, MA, Jean Mazzola and Erika Johnson of Arlington, MA, Raymond and Nancy of Wakefield, MA, Russell and Tanya of Huntington Beach, CA, Robert and Marlene of Cambridge, MA and Joanne and Kevin Boyle of Arlington, MA. Predeceased by his mother-in-law Genevieve Kenty, and brothers in law Robert Theriault and Frank Witunsky. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and his dear Aunt Teresa Pero. Lifelong best friend of Robert O'Rourke.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday February 22 from 2-6 PM at the Bonita Fish Company, 702 Fisherman's Wharf, Fort Myers Beach, FL
