Ralph Gordy Tull, Sr., was born on September 1, 1934 in Wattsville, Virginia to the late John and Bernice Tull. On March 3, 2024, he transitioned from labor to reward at Shore Health & Rehab Center in Parksley, Virginia.
Ralph was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. At an early age, he entered the workforce. He first gained employment at Golden Pride Poultry Processing Plant. In 1970, he began driving truck for Holly Farms until 1998. Following this he became a bus driver for Accomack County Public Schools for many years. Upon his retirement, Ralph ventured back to the workplace and joined the team at Food Lion. He worked there part-time until his health began to fail.
At an early age, Ralph joined Friendship United Methodist Church, now New Beginnings United Methodist Church. He served his church faithfully for many years. He was the church maintenance man until he was unable to do so any longer.
On June 9, 1956, Ralph married the love of his life, Annie Elizabeth Holden. Their union was blessed with seven children.
Ralph was a jack-of-all trades, he could fix cars, lawnmowers, and anything you gave him to repair. In his spare time, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, hunting rabbits, and crabbing. He also loved watching his favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ralph was a person who would give you the shirt off his back. He always took the time to help someone with money, food, clothing, or whatever was needed. He never asked for anything in return. If he ever told you that "You're cracked up" or called you "Chocolate Head" he really cared a lot about you.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by twenty-two siblings; one grandson; and three great-granddaughters.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of sixty-seven years, Annie E. Tull of New Church, VA; seven children, Ralph (Ada) Tull, Jr. of New Church, VA, Garry (Teresa) Tull of Dover, DE, Shirlene (Micah) Harmon of Greenbackville, VA, Nina Tull of New Church, VA, Elvis (Lynn) Tull of Alexandria, VA, Timothy (Lynne) Tull of Fayetteville, NC, and Tabatha Williams of Savannah, GA; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Rudolph Tull of New Church, VA; four sisters-in-law, Martha Tull of New Church, VA, Estelle Tull of Pocomoke, MD, Faye Frazier of Jenkins Bridge, VA, and Effie Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers-in-law, Randy Holden of Norfolk, VA and Lester Holden of Jenkins Bridge, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lovingly submitted,
The Family
