Everett Turney, age 70, passed away October 9, 2023 in Monett, Missouri. He was married to Doris Ernest Turney for 37 years until the passing of Doris on June 9, 2023.
Everett was born on August 12, 1953 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, son of Ralph and Pauline Turney. He attended Fort Cobb schools and was a graduate of the class of 1971. Since graduation he was employed with Winn Brothers Farm in Weatherford, Oklahoma then on to Nipple-up, also in Weatherford. In 1986, he moved his family to Missouri and worked as manager of a Turkey farm for 32 years. Health issues forced him to retire. Everett enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Everett was an avid OU fan and a collector of OU memorabilia. He was a man of God and loved the lord with all his heart.
In Everett's younger years he accomplished many things. He was in a family band known as Ralph's Peanut Pickers. The band went to Cedar Point Ohio where Everett won World Champion Guitar player with the song "Wipe Out". He also loved his show steers and won many Grand and Reserve Championships. He received the Showmanship Award at the Caddo County Fair several years in a row. His love for baseball and basketball shined when he was on the field and the court.
Everett is survived by his children Tara Lovelace and her husband Robert of Burns Flat, Ok, Christi Esanu and her husband Emanuel of Weatherford, Ok, Brandon Turney and his wife Amber of Clinton, Ok, Bear Brownfield and his wife Shelley of Monett, Mo, Angel Michelle Guenther and her husband Todd of Verona, Mo; Donna King, mother of Tara, Christi, and Brandon; 26 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; Sisters, Patty Mace and her husband Denis and Dodie Marrow and her husband Roger and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends can pay their respects from 10-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at the funeral home. Private services will be held at Howard Cemetery, Goodman, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to Compassus in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
