Jarvisburg, NC - Ramey Douglas "Doug" Ray, Jr., 70, graduated to Heaven on July 16, 2025 from ECU Medical center in Greenville, NC. He was predeceased by his father Reverand Ramie Douglas Ray Sr. and mother Mary Riggins Ray.
Doug is survived by his wife Wendy Ray of Jarvisburg NC, his son Devin Ray and wife Viktoria Ray of Kill Devil Hills, NC, stepson Jeremy Boone and wife Brandy of Swansboro, NC, stepson Trent Boone of Martinsburg WV, and stepson Adam Boone and wife Cathy of Hubert, NC., his grandchildren Micaela Boone of Raleigh, NC, Jaden McPoyle and husband Colyn of Hubert, NC, Maddy Martin, Cameron Boone and Ashlynn Boone all of Swansboro, NC, his sisters Barbara Daffron of Roanoke, VA, Kathy Hart and husband Danny of Henry, VA, Steve Parker and wife Kay of Murfreesboro, NC, and Lisa Britt of Conway, NC. He also had multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He loved them all dearly and was so proud of each of them. His granddaughters were the sparkle in his eyes.
You never saw Doug that he wasn't smiling making everyone in his presence smile with his wonderful sense of humor. He retired in 2021 from Beach Mart Inc. in Nags Head, NC. He considered the people he worked with his "work" family and they treated him as such. His son and stepsons all said they are better men from having him in their lives. He will be missed so much by his wife, family and friends.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Fort Trial Christian Church in memory of Doug Ray. The family has planned a celebration of life at 2PM on August 2nd at Fort Trial Christian Church, 6356 Virginia Ave., Bassett, VA 24055. www.wrightfuneralhome.org
