Ramon Antonio Fernandez

Fernandez - Ramon Antonio Fernandez, age 83, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Born in Punal, Santiago, Ramon moved to the United States at the age of 22, where he worked tirelessly to build a better life for his family. He spent most of his life in Weehawken, New Jersey, before retiring to Florida, where he lived the remainder of his years.

Ramon worked full-time as a factory worker and part-time as a taxicab driver. Despite the long hours, his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved wife and raising their three children. Ramon and his wife shared a lifelong love story that began when they were just 13 years old in their hometown of Punal. After moving to the United States, Ramon worked and saved enough to bring his wife to join him, and together they built a life full of love, sacrifice, and family.

Family was at the center of Ramon's life. He prayed every night for his children and dedicated Sundays to family outings, whether at the pool or a theme park. He always made sure his children had the latest games, dolls, and toys, and he especially loved seeing their joy. He had a heart of gold, often bringing clothing and accessories back to Punal to help his hometown community.

Ramon is survived by his three children, Joanny, Luis, and Chris; son-in-law, Pete; and daughters-in-law, Chelsea and Diana. He was a proud grandfather to Chelsea and CJ, who brought him great joy.

Ramon lived his life with quiet strength and resilience. Even when diagnosed with cancer, he never showed weakness, always putting his family's comfort above his own pain. He carried the loss of his beloved wife with him every day after her passing, but their love remains an eternal bond. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend - a man of sacrifice, strength, and unconditional love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ferreira Funeral Services at Beaches Memorial Park, 1500 Main Street, Atlantic Beach, Florida 32233, with Father Anthony Bonela officiating. Interment will follow at Beaches Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 8121 Veracruz Drive, Jacksonville, FL, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
