Ramona Carla Derdeyn

Ramona Carla Derdeyn, age 63 passed away on Wednesday November 9, 2022 of metastatic breast
cancer in Seguin, Texas. She had been fighting cancer for 25 years achieving remission twice and finally
succumbing to the third round. Wanting everyone to remember as she was in life she didn't want
visitation and is to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be organized in Houston after the Holidays.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Carl, and is survived by her Mother, Laverne Norman and a
Sister, Vicki and a Brother, Scott. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael, and her Son,
Matthew, 32 and Daughter, Haley, 30.
Her last occupation was raising two children for 32 years but prior to that she was a Systems Analyst and
a Software Trainer. She like decorating and home improvements and directed changes for the better in
every house she and her husband owned. She was also an avid Bridge player and loved dogs.
She was a gentle soul that had a bright smile who liked watching College and Professional Football and
Rock Music and toured the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Her two favorite football teams
were the LSU Tigers and the Houston Texans. She also like viewing waterfalls and lush fall colors in the
Smokey Mountains and the tropical flowers in the Hawaiian Islands.
As an advocate for Battered Women, she raised money, secured a lease from the Catholic Church,
mobilized local labor and craftsmen and with material donations opened a Battered Women's Shelter in
a former convent in Clinton, Missouri.
