Mona was born on September 20, 1955, to Roy “Soupie” and Donna (Grimstvedt) Campbell. She was raised, graduated, and lived her entire life here in Breckenridge. Mona married James O’Meara on November 2, 1974, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Breckenridge and enjoyed 51 wonderful years of marriage. Of course, the wedding dance was held at the Pavillion in Breckenridge. Together they raised three beautiful children, Cheryl, Denise, and Scott. Her family was a big part of her life, and she loved them dearly. She enjoyed going on family vacations, camping trips in the summer, and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Mona was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, having season tickets since 1999. Football was her passion. When it wasn’t football season, she kept busy doing plastic canvas crafts, crocheting, diamond dots, attending Nascar and dirt track races, reading, and watching the Minnesota Twins. Mona worked at Piggly Wiggly in the produce department, St. Catherine’s Living Center and Mainstay Hotel until her retirement in 2016. Her smile and contagious laugh will never be forgotten.
Mona is survived by her husband, James, Breckenridge, MN, daughters, Cheryl (Jess) O’Meara, Wahpeton, ND, Denise (Seth) Johnson, Moorhead, MN, son, Scott (Trista) O’Meara, Crookston, MN, grandchildren, Peter and Piper Johnson, SJ and Jasmine O’Meara, brothers, Mitchell Campbell, Fargo, Greg Campbell, Mark Campbell, both of Breckenridge and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Donna, mother and father-in-law, Wilbur and Gertrude O’Meara, sister-in-law, Wendy Campbell and nephew Adam Campbell.
