Ramsey Ruel Gordon, 84 of Orange, Texas passed away August 5, 2023, at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born on March 8, 1939, to Arnold Ruel and Oneida Gordon of Joaquin, Texas. Ramsey grew up in Joaquin where he graduated High School. A veteran of the United States Navy, who retired from Dupont after 30+ years.
Funeral services honoring the life of Ramsey Gordon will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023, at 11:00AM with visitation beginning at 10AM at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 219 Bethel Road, Logansport, Louisiana 71049.
Ramsey was very passionate about any project he was involved in. He loved growing tomatoes and once grew 1,500 tomato plants. He was proud of his hay meadow that he worked on with his David Brown tractor given to him by John L Arbuckle. He loved fishing both offshore with his Mako boat and at his lake house on Toledo Bend. Ramsey also brought his grandchildren to the Sabine River Canal to practice casting. He was a standout high school basketball player. His love for basketball led him to convert his driveway into a basketball court, by painting it, to teach his grandchildren how to do a proper layup. He loved watching tennis and boxing while eating Baby Ruth’s.
Most importantly, he was a kind and loving father and proud Pop’s, who will be greatly missed not only by family, but by all who knew him. He had a unique and interesting way of telling stories that everyone enjoyed hearing.
Survived by his wife Shirley Arbuckle Gordon, Son John Gordon of Mauriceville, Texas, Daughter -in-law Sandy Gordon; Daughter Rhonda Harvey and Husband Bill of Buna, Texas; Grandchildren Rachel Bennett, Lane Gordon and Kayla Gordon; Great-grandchildren Greyson and Garrett Bennett; Brother John Gordon of Joaquin, Texas; Sister-in-laws Keiko Gordon of Gig Harbor, Washington and Pat Arbuckle of Logansport, Louisiana.
Proceeded in death by, Parents Arnold Ruel and Oneida Gordon; Brother Arnold Bert Gordon; Brother-in-laws John L Arbuckle, Gene Arbuckle, Bill Arbuckle; Sister-in-laws Talma Arbuckle and Trudy Arbuckle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bethel Cemetery, c/o Elaine Whitten, 153 Hoy Lane, Logansport, LA 71049.
