Randall Jon "Randy" Gabrielson, age 61 of Stillwater, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, surrounded by loving family. Randy was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1963, in Austin, Minnesota to Arnie and Mickey (Thorson) Gabrielson, the youngest of six children. Randy grew up in Austin and was a proud member of the 1981 Austin Packers boys basketball team that made it to the state championship game. After graduating high school, Randy attended Austin Community College and the University of Minnesota where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business & Communications.
He was united in marriage to Katey Krebs in Austin, Minnesota. Randy and Katey met while in high school together, and he became her biggest supporter and protector. The couple moved to Chicago, Illinois, before returning to the Twin Cities and finally making their home in Stillwater. Randy had a fierce love for Katey and they shared 34 amazing years together making wonderful memories that will be cherished.
Randy was proud of his almost 40 year career in the Insurance and Finance Industry, currently in the position of Senior Vice President at Allianz Life Financial Services. He had worked for several companies in the past, but Allianz Life truly felt like home to Randy, and his co-workers were like family. Randy cherished the opportunity to be a mentor for so many of his colleagues, and he possessed the ability to place others in the role or job position that helped them increase their skills to truly better themselves. Randy believed in building people up for the better good, not in tearing others down to get ahead. He was completely accepting of others and valued deep meaningful relationships.
Randy was an avid golfer and enjoyed following Minnesota's sports teams, especially the Vikings. He had an appreciation for cars, and loved spending time on the St. Croix River playing the role of Boat Captain and entertaining with his amazing selection of 70s hits and karaoke songs. Randy was the favorite uncle among his nieces and nephews, and he was always willing to offer them advice. Randy's credo in life: make good decisions and be curious.
Randy will remain in the hearts of his wife of 34 years Katey; siblings Susan (Scott) Bjerke, Mary (Scot) Jacobson, and Janny (Mark) Tansil; sisters-in-law Diane and Dawn Gabrielson; father-in-law Ronald Krebs; brothers-in-law Michael (Lesley) Krebs, and Mitchell (Shantel) Krebs; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arnie and Mickey; brothers Tim and Tom; mother-in-law Jeannine Krebs; and brothers-in-law Mark and Matt Krebs.
A Funeral Service for Randy will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Church of St. Michael's, 611 3rd St S, Stillwater, MN. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church, prior to the service. A lunch will be held at the church hall afterward. For all that wish to gather, Randy's life will continue to be celebrated beginning at 2:00 PM at the Bungalow Inn, 1151 Rivercrest Rd N, Lakeland, MN.
Randy's Funeral Service will be livestreamed through The Churches of St. Michael & St. Mary Youtube page. Click this link to find the livestream.

Dear Katey,
My deepest sympathies at your great loss. I know that you and Randy had a wonderful, loving and great life together in your marriage. I know you will cherish your love and memories forever. "Death is a heartache that no one can heal; Love is a memory that no one can steal".
I got to know Randy 25 years ago. It was when you lived in Algonquin, IL and I in Crystal Lake, IL. We met for the 1st time at the Holiday Inn in CL for dinner. We stayed in touch off and on over the years but not recently. Both you and Randy got us interested and hooked on the wonderful art of Thomas Kincaid which we still have to this day. Randy was truly a gentleman and very kind person. May he rest in peace!

Katey: I am so sorry to hear of Randy's passing. We were industry friends for over 20 years and spent a lot of time together over the years, but lost touch over the past few and I regret that. I always looked forward to seeing him when we would get together for dinner or just to catch up. We always had a lot of laughs and I enjoyed it every time. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to you and your extended family.

My condolences to Katey, Randy's sisters, and all who knew him well. Although we were only really friends in Jr. High School, I've always thought of him as a positive, smiling, "good guy", and I'm saddened to hear he has passed... too soon. Paul
