Randall Scott Trent, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Christ, peacefully passed away on March 22, 2024, at the age of 72. Cherished husband of Rita Murray Trent, loving father of Sharon Camble (Aaron), Joan Simpkins (Jason), Mary Barber (Dennis), and Jasmine Sturgill (Jason), adored grandfather of Annabelle, Marcus, Makayla, and Benton. Also survived by two brothers Timmy Hogrefe and Tim Hagaman, and his sister Tina Holbrook.

Born on August 8, 1951, Randall’s legacy is one of unwavering faith. In 1974, Randall experienced a life-transforming encounter with Jesus Christ, which became the guiding light of his existence. For 50 years, he walked in the footsteps of his Savior, dedicated to spreading the message of God’s love. His passion for the Bible led him to teach numerous Bible studies, touching the hearts of many with his deep understanding and genuine compassion.

His dedication to his family knew no bounds. Rita was not just his wife but his partner in faith and life for nearly five decades. Randall’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he reveled in the roles of father and grandfather. Randall’s love extended beyond his immediate family. April Lindsey-Vaught, who was like a daughter to him, and her husband David held a special place in his heart. His extended family added joy and laughter to his life, and he cherished the moments spent with them. He shared a special bond with his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who were some of his closest friends, and adored his nephews and nieces.

After serving four years in the Marine Corps, which he often referred to as some of the best years of his life, Randall was a diligent provider for his family working as a machinist for many years, retiring from Elgin / Mining Controls in 2016.

A man of many talents, Randall had a lifelong thirst for knowledge and was often found engrossed in books, ever eager to learn and grow. He was skilled in woodworking and loved art and playing his guitar. His deep affection for music had a profound impact on instilling a diverse love for music in his children. Randall was also known for his quick wit and great sense of humor.

Though Randall’s earthly journey has come to an end, his legacy of faith, love, and laughter will live on in the hearts of those he touched. As he enters his eternal rest, surrounded by the glory of his Savior, may his memory continue to inspire and uplift all who were blessed to know him.
