Funeral Service at Calvary Baptist Church, Walters, OK, on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 2:00 pm, Rev. Roger Snow officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters.
Randell Scott Bates was born June 20, 1978 in Midland, TX to Christopher D. and Patti L. (Moore) Bates and departed this life in Springdale, AR on May 7, 2025 at the age of 46 years, 10 months, and 17 days.
Randy grew up in Alvin, TX, where his family moved to from Midland in April of 1979. He graduated from Alvin High School then attended ITT Tech. His first job was in high school at sonic and after he moved to San Antonio, he drove a truck locally for Walgreens and Blue Bell. He eventually moved to Walters, OK, where his parents had settled, continuing his career path as a truckdriver. Randy drove for US Express, Stevens, Schneider, A&A, Waste Management, Halliburton, his own Bates Transportation LLC, Two Guns and was currently driving for Satchell Creek.
He married Ashley Renee Broyles on September 25, 2010 in Marlow, OK. They made their home in Duncan along with their 2 kids. Randy enjoyed watching baseball, football, basketball, poker, NASCAR and attending comedy clubs. He especially loved watching the Texas Longhorns and the Houston Astros play. He also enjoyed attending Alyssa’s gymnastics competitions, taking her fishing, playing Uno, listening to music, watching movies, taking her to the water park with her cousin, Mason, and even recently had a second captain’s chair put in his semi for Alyssa to ride with him. Randy never met a stranger and was a friend to anyone who knew him.
Randy is survived by his parents Chris and Patti Bates of Walters, OK; a brother, Roger Bates and wife Angela of Temple, OK; a sister, Brenda Fontenot of Cache, OK; kids Casey Bates of Comanche, OK and Alyssa Bates of Oklahoma City, OK; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
