Randolph Majewski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremations Services, Inc. - Wesleyville on Mar. 6, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the force who was Randy J. Majewski, age 72, of Harborcreek, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at home with his family. Randolph John Majewski was born on July 29, 1953, in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his father, John "Rowboat," mother, Stella "Sallie," and an infant brother, John.

Randy worked at General Electric for 37 years in various capacities throughout the plant, retiring from locomotive test, a job he truly loved, in 2009. He believed whole-heartedly in the power of labor unions, choosing to devote a great portion of his tenure at GE serving his union, UE Local 506, in many positions including Departmental Steward, Divisional Chief Steward, Executive Board Member, Chief Plant Steward, Vice-President, as well as President. The members he was able to help and the impact he made through his work and dedication with 506 is immeasurable.

As Randy's daughters were growing up, he dedicated much of his time to being a youth soccer coach. Many summers were spent with them on EYSA soccer fields, as well as traveling with Harbor Creek soccer club teams. He had a positive influence on so many kids over the years, fondly calling him "Coach" even years later.

Randy had a great many interests, including sports, reading, history, cars, and music. He enjoyed sporting events and could recite statistics from baseball games from years past, enjoying watching the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, rarely missing a broadcast. Stories were often told of attending Pittsburgh Penguins games before I-79 existed. The San Francisco 49ers and Washington Huskies were also of high interest, creating a few expletive-filled Saturdays and Sundays as the years went by, depending upon the outcome.

Reading and history went hand in hand for Randy. He had a strong connection with Greek history, specifically the 300 Spartans at Thermopylae and Alexander the Great. The Battle of Gettysburg was also of great significance to him. Visiting battlefields and monuments, including the WWII Memorial and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, was his way of honoring those souls. Although he never served, Randy had a great respect and admiration for those who did, anciently and contemporarily.

Cars and music also brought him a sense of joy. Randy enjoyed driving his red '87 Trans Am GTA, listening to Jimi Hendrix, Creedence, Steppenwolf, and many others.

Randy had a deep love for his family. He cared immensely for them, always making sure they knew how treasured they were. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Lynn; and two daughters, Holly Majewski-Johnson and her husband, Edward Nicholas, Kelley Lydick and her husband, Michael; and his precious granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Lydick, who has so many great memories of her "Gaga," including many special road trips to Kraynak's, Daffin's, and Walt Disney World. He is further survived by his sister, Joyce DeFazio and her husband, David; and many nieces and nephews. Dogs were also a big part of Randy's world, and it would be remiss to not mention his beloved dog, Vincent, as well as his four grand-dogs, Athena, Yoda, Patton, and Winston.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., on Friday, March 13th, from 4 pm until the time of a Memorial Service there at 7 pm conducted by Rev. James McCormick. Interment will be held at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery on Saturday, March 14th, at 1:30 pm. Family and friends are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ANNA Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511. Condolences may be sent to www.dusckasfuneralhomes.com.

We've all lost a good man.
Through working and socially interacting I've known Randy for a big portion of my life & I will miss him.
Anytime I ran into him and Mary at giant eagle we would talk endlessly about everything & anything until we realized we might never get out of the store if we didn't stop yaking.
Randy was the type of guy you could count on if things got bad because he always had your back.
I lost a friend and a brother.
Rest in peace my friend

My deepest condolences to all. I have very fond memories of Randy as we grew up together on East 7th Street. We shared lots of fun experiences including playing baseball and football in the neighborhood and our mutual following of the Yankees. He was a good person and a dedicated family man.

Mary, Holly, Kelley and family: our family has many memories of Coach Randy on the soccer field. He was a funny guy, but very serious on the soccer field and always wanted the best for the team. I'm glad I ran into you Mary and Randy a few weeks back. We got to catch up on "our" girls and how they are doing. Our deepest sympathy to all of you and may he find eternal peace above.

Mary, Holly and Kelly,

So sorry to read of Randy´s passing. He was such a "tough guy", but those who knew him, knew he was just a teddy bear. Loved sitting in the stands with him at the kids games, we felt the same way about a lot of things.

Prayers and thoughts go out to you at this time. Our condolences are with you.

Dear Mary, Kelly and Holly , my sincerely condolences to all of you. I can hardly believe that I am typing in his obituary. This all happened so quickly. I will truly miss him and I will never forget all the times he had to take care of problems with me and other people. Especially when he knew he was right. And no matter what time it was he would get back to me. He cared for people , but acted like a tough guy. So many years of knowing him and not realizing that the last time we all met for lunch, that i would not see him again. I will really miss him and how he would make us laugh. Or put us in shock of what he would say. He was unique.
I´m sorry that I can not be there Mary but I will see you when I get home. I will keep all of yous in my prayers during your grieving period. May God stay with all of yous.
Take care,
Love ,
Mary Bemis

Well Randy I guess this day came, we will miss you and seeing you walk Vincent. I was always so excited when I´d see you take him to the tennis courts and he ran in that enclosed area with such freedom ..as free as birds fly..and you always took the time to stop and chat with us whether just a few words or of the past and a story to accompany it. You will be missed my neighbor, now rest in peace, mission complete.

Always,
Tom and Dottie Bernatowicz
