On March 29, 1961, Randolph Wright was born to the late Guy Wright and Earthie Lee Jordan Wright. He was the youngest of fifteen children. Randolph was baptized at Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Armested Slayton.
Randolph Wright was a graduate of Forrest City High School and attended East Arkansas Community College. On June 3, 1987, he married his high school sweetheart, Charlotte Fields, and to this 20 year union, two children were born and raised in Jonesboro, AR and Nashville, TN. Randolph worked for FedEx in Memphis, Tn until his relocation back to Forrest City, AR.
Randolph loved any and everything about the game of basketball. He was always ready to talk about the greats and their specific contributions to the NBA league. He was instrumental in teaching both his son and daughter the love of the sport and contributed to their future successes. Randolph was extremely proud that both of his children earned scholarships to play collegiate basketball at Trevecca Nazarene University (MyRanda) and Martin Methodist College (Randolph II).
Randolph was an excellent cook whose dishes brought joy to countless hearts for over 15 years at Hardees restaurants. Refraining from anything pork at home, his favorite dishes usually starred beef in his tacos, spaghetti and chili. Randolph loved holistic and natural living literature and learning about the Earth's healing properties. He was an avid landscape connoisseur and was keen on a sharp hedge and assisting those who needed a hand at their home. His beloved mother-in-law, Ms. Louise V. Fields was even complimented by a neighbor that "Randolph can cut your ugly yard and make it look good!" Also known for his quick wit and comedic temperament Randolph would be sure to light up a room with laughter. His unique blend of humor, often tinged with a touch of cynicism offered another perspective on life.
Beyond his love for cooking and the outdoors, Randolph had a deep love for music. Whether it was singing a favorite tune while cooking or sharing his insights on classics- his passion for the art was evident to all who knew him. Randolph's favorite musicians and bands being Parliament, Funkadelic and Ray Parker, Jr.
Randolph's legacy of love, laughter and culinary delights will be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Randolph passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, in Jonesboro, AR with his niece Daphne Willis and other family by his side at St. Bernards hospital.
He is preceded in death by his brothers-John Wright, Guy Wright, Robert Wright, Fenner Wright, Earnest Wright, Sr., Albert Wright, Rolfe Wright, Marvin Wright and Willie Wright.
He leaves to treasure his memories his former wife of 20 years- Charlotte Wright of Nashville, TN; two children-MyRanda C. Jones (Jason) of Houston, TX, and Randolph Wright II of Nashville, TN;
Four grandchildren- Cannon Wright, Maven Rue, Evann Louise and Maxen J.D. Jones of Houston, TX;
Four sisters-Mary Taggart of Jonesboro, AR, Etter Willis, Betty Fleming (Lawrence), and Estella Taggart all of Forrest City, AR; one brother- Paul Wright (Emma); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
