Randy C. Beaumont

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Randolph Campbell Beaumont (Randy) on November 10, 2024 at the age of 83. Randy was a beloved spouse, parent and grandparent, and a great lover of music, community theater, soccer, gardening, chemistry research, and his church choir.
Born on October 15, 1941, Randy grew up in Bellevue, Washington. He lived a life full of contributions to the local community. This included founding and running the adult men's soccer league in Flagstaff, and playing soccer with the Ravens into his 80s, as well as contributing to youth soccer. Randy was a leader and patron of the Flagstaff Light Opera Company, later known as the Flagstaff Musical Theater, for which he is a past president, board member, actor, and the builder of many beautiful and elaborate sets. Music was another of his passions, and he was a 40-year choir member at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. Randy was known for his wit and charm, as well as his far-ranging knowledge, creativity, and eccentricity. He brought joy to friends and family members with his shenanigans. He loved language, reading, crossword puzzles, and puns.
Randy graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry from Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington, and received a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho. He had a fulfilling career as a Professor of Chemistry at Alma College in Alma, Michigan, including Postdoctoral work at McMaster University in Canada. This was followed by the adventure of running his own businesses, including Montgomery Ward and AZIonics in Flagstaff. He was a lifelong member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi, the National Science Honorary Society.
Randy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janetta, son Bob Beaumont, daughters Elizabeth Beaumont and Helen Costello and grandchildren Nick Beaumont, Katie Beaumont, Lucy Berlin, Elena Berlin, and Clara Costello.
A celebration of life will be held on December 14 at Episcopal Church of the Epiphany with a service at 11:00 followed by a reception and sharing of memories from approximately 12:00-1:00. All friends and those who knew Randy in any of his roles are warmly invited to attend the service and/or reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Randy Beaumont Young Vocalist and Musician Fund for the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, or to Northland Hospice in Randy Beaumont's memory. Randy's memory will be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
