Randy Lynn Curtis was born September 25, 1956. He passed away at age 69 peacefully in his sleep on November 5, 2025. Despite facing many physical limitations and health challenges throughout his life, Randy wanted to be independent and made his opinions about people “fussing” over him well known. Randy always did things in his own way and in his own time. He waited until he could celebrate his birthday and Halloween - his favorite time of year - and then slipped away quietly in the night, leaving on his own terms and without a fuss.
Randy is survived by Eva Dawnene Higley (sister), Cynthia Marie Noel (niece), Kylie Marie Noel (great-niece) and Shaylee Ann Noel (great-niece). Randy loved his sister, niece and great-nieces dearly and they were a source of joy in his life.
Randy lived in a TKJ group home with several of his friends for the final 14 years of his life. He loved to read, especially Stephen King. Randy always had 94.1FM playing on the radio in the background, and he loved 80’s music. He always wore printed t-shirts and had a few of his favorites which he wore until they were threadbare. Randy loved living in downtown Salt Lake. He liked going out to eat, trying spicy food and his favorite restaurant was Hooters. He liked visiting local coffee shops, often preferring Salt Lake Roasting Company for a “cup of the day”. Randy enjoyed being active in all of downtown life, including attending festivals, parades, visiting the park, going to the library and watching fireworks. He particularly enjoyed annual trips to the Greek Festival and birthday trips to Wendover. Randy loved being outside. He enjoyed people and dog watching from his front porch or at local parks. He befriended many neighborhood dogs over the years and was known by people in his neighborhood. Randy loved his work at South Valley Training Company, where he was able to spend time with many of his friends and peers.
Randy was a wonderful man and a steady roommate, friend, brother and uncle. Randy’s humor, stubborn independence and unexpected warmth will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Funeral services for Randy will be held Wednesday November 19th, 2025, at 11:00am at Memorial Murray Mortuary (5850 S 900 E, Murray, UT 84121).
