Randy Fox Obituary

Published by Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Leander/Cedar Park on Jan. 22, 2016.
Randy Eugene Fox of Austin, Texas, passed away suddenly at Lakeway Regional Medical Center on January 13, 2016, after fighting pancreatitis. He was 59 years old. Randy was born on March 25, 1956, in Coffeyville, Kansas. He was the beloved oldest son of Charles Eugene and Dona Louise Fox. Randy moved to Austin with his family when he was 17 years old, where he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and began working in the technology sector, which became one of his greatest interests. On October 11, 1991, Randy married Mary Jane (Janie) Fox, the love of his life. Together, they raised four sons in Austin, all of whom are now grown. Randy spent most of his career working for IBM, and was most recently working from home while enjoying life with Janie on Lake Travis, his favorite spot in the city. Over the years at IBM, he had many different titles as he rose up through the ranks, but in each role he took on, he was greatly respected as a "technical wizard, a mentor, a patient teacher, a friend, and one of the very best leaders" that his co-workers were privileged to know. He worked very closely with many of IBM's biggest and most important clients worldwide, but more importantly, he was "a team player who loved a challenge and always brought his best to everything he did, while lifting others in the process." In addition to technology and his career at IBM, Randy was passionate about music, lake life, sailing, woodworking, and RV living. He and Janie enjoyed traveling around the country in their Airstream trailer. Randy was most of all a devoted family man. He loved being a husband, a father, and a granddad, and spending time with family was his favorite thing. His passing has left an enormous hole in their lives, and he will be greatly missed. Randy is survived by his wife, Janie Fox; sons, Shaun (Katie), Elliott (Lauren), Layne LoMaglio, and Jeremy (Jessica England); grandchildren, Molly, Luisa, and Nathaniel; parents, Charles Eugene and Dona Louise Fox; siblings, Cindy (Garry) Hurta, Michael (Erin) Fox, and Janice (Dan) Ellis; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of Randy's life will be held on Saturday, January 23, at Marshall Ford Fellowship; 5000 Marshall Ford Road; Austin, TX; 78732. The service will be at 12:00pm, followed by a potluck luncheon in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lake Travis Crisis Ministries, 107 Ranch Road 620 South, Suite 114, Lakeway, TX 78734.
