Randy Wayne Franks, 73, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, October 4, 2025. He was born on January 25, 1952, in Manchester, the son of Lester and Louise (Wilson) Franks. Randy grew up in the Manchester area and was a graduate of West Delaware High School.

Randy proudly enlisted before his high school graduation in the United States Army, where he served for several years before joining the United States Navy. He also attended the Police Academy. Randy dedicated his life to serving his country, including service during the Vietnam War, and retired honorably after 32 years of military service.

On August 6, 2005, Randy was united in marriage to Dixie Dean. Randy was a fan of all types of music and loved cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes and especially the Green Bay Packers. He liked watching Hallmark Christmas movies, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Dixie Franks of Manchester; eight children, David Franks, Mickie (Brian) Deaton, Melissa Franks, Christopher (Leslie) Franks, Danelle (Pete) Fowler, Larry (Kelly) Yeager, Joseph (Debi) Powers, and Jamie Powers; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; siblings Patricia Sands, Laverne (Donna) Franks, Michael (Sandra) Franks, and Charles (Paula) Franks; and many nieces and nephews.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents; his son Michael; sister, Gloria Rodriquez; and brother Harold Franks.
