On Thursday May 2, 2024. Randy Wayne Rudig passed away after suffering from a heart attack. Randy was born on September 4, 1962, to Dennis and Lyndia Rudig of Anacortes, WA. Randy attended public schools in Anacortes and Randy spent most of his life in Anacortes.
He worked many part time jobs including a few seasons aboard Alaska fishing boats joining a crew with his brothers Mark and Dale on The Nootka a long line boat fishing black cod. Later, the Clipper Endeavor fishing for black cod. He also did crab fishing in Kodiak, Alaska also for a season.
When Randy returned to Anacortes, and he had the opportunity to fish locally on a couple boats from Anacortes. In 1987 Randy and his girlfriend at the time welcomed their only son Steven to the family.
Randy moved to Westport, WA for a few years with his small family. He became part of the crew of a fishing boat in Westport, WA dragging for shrimp and bottom fishing.
He eventually moved back to Anacortes and worked part time jobs including working in the local canneries in the summer never far from the fishing industry. Working on boat repair at Al's Boat Works. He volunteered at the Salvation Army Food Bank for a while with his mother Lyndia distributing food to the needy.
Randy is survived by his son Steven Johnson of Burlington, WA, Brother Dennis Michal Rudig of Boca Chica, Dominican Republic and Mark A. Rudig of Tacoma, WA many cousins and close friends. Randy was preceded in death by is parents Dennis and Lyndia Rudig his Grandparents Llewellyn and Virginia Weekley of Anacortes and Albert and Emma Rudig of Griswold, IA. Sisters Kathy Peterson (Kidder), Terri Marshall (Kidder) brothers Steven P. Rudig, and Dale E. Rudig. Memorial is being planned TBA.
