Randy Shepherd Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Waldo Funeral Home - Sherman on May 15, 2024.
Randell Edward Shepherd (Randy), age 73, passed away at his home of 40 years in Howe, Texas on May 12, 2024 after a nearly five month long illness. Randy was born on November 8, 1950 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was the first-born child of Henry Alfred Shepherd and Lavanda (Burney) Shepherd.
Randy graduated from Arroyo High School in El Monte, California in 1969. On May 29, 1971, he married the love of his life, Diane Robertson, in La Puente, California. Randy and Diane had 2 daughters, Lisa Christine and Rebecca Ann (Becky).
Randy began a career in the freight industry at Coast Carloading Company in Los Angeles, California when he was in his late teens. In 1980, he moved his family to Plano, Texas and went to work for his dad at Superior Fast Freight in Dallas, Texas as a truck driver. In 2000, he began working at Wal-Mart Supercenter in Sherman, Texas. Although Randy worked various jobs at Wal-Mart, his favorite job was working in the hardware department where he earned his nickname "the Paint Man". He truly enjoyed the relationships he built with his customers and co-workers.
Randy was a talker, and he never met a stranger. He had many stories to tell, and he enjoyed telling them no matter how many times you might have already heard them! Some of his favorite pastimes include boating, water-skiing (he was an excellent slalom skier!), camping, and hunting and fishing with family. Randy adored his grandchildren to whom he is affectionately known as "Papa". The countless memories he left us with will be cherished forever.
Randy was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Diane; daughters, Lisa Bullard and husband Donald, and Becky Pellman and husband Nick; grandchildren, Macy (Bullard) Soto and husband Edwin, Andrew Bullard, Emily Bullard, Caleb Pellman, and Harper Pellman; brothers, John Shepherd and wife Gena, and Paul Shepherd and wife Sherri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Waldo Funeral Home on Saturday, May 18 from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. followed by a graveside service at 12:00p.m. at Sadler Cemetery in Sadler, Texas with Dennis Noblett officiating. Pallbearers will be Donald Bullard, Nick Pellman, Andrew Bullard, Caleb Pellman, Mark Johnson, and Tink Johnson.
